Leaving games on a tie

Going into a game playing fulltime to a 4-4 score.  Get to overtime opponent leaves when he loses kick off possession. I get nothing, just a waste of time… i dont have that much time to play and spending the full time with no benefit is terrible experience.
 Is this suppose to be fair and fun?
I dont play on PC, but I see people facing hackers, are they able to drop when they see a gold team before the game starts?
