I agree 12 games is not enough. Another reason I don’t like it is that it’s harder to get into the top rewards since the low limit on games. I’ve also ran into the problem of ea randomly kicking me out of my games and with the small amount of games it screws me over for rewards.

Exactly. This small number of games rewards the pros and/or players that spend hundreds of $ loading their teams up from the start who can jump in and play 12 games all on the hardest difficulty level to grab easy rewards and then spend the bulk of their time on what they prefer which is the various online games.
For others who don't spend any $ and only play offline but love to grind away each week gradually making their teams better and consequently attainting one more level each week, it's pretty much a lost cause now. I got to Gold 1 in the first week but definitely could have made it to Elite 1 with more games. And maintaining Elite 1 would have still taken lots of gradual improvements in my team each week. That's fun and rewarding. For me Gold 1 is likely as good as it's going to be for several weeks.
EA just inexplicably ruined something else for many players.

The rewards this year with 12 matches is better than prior years even if you don't reach elite 1. And more people are playing SB after this change because 40 matches per week was too long and boring. Now it's more worthwhile for many people to play SB who would have otherwise not done so in the past. So overall 12 matches is a positive change in my opinion.
