Career Mode overhaul: realism, immersion, AI, and gameplay improvements

Problem:

Career Mode lacks realism, immersion, and detailed systems that reflect real football. Many small issues combine to break the overall experience, especially for players who focus only on Career Mode.

Examples:

Match realism:

- Matches can end during clear attacking opportunities or counterattacks, especially in the final minutes.

Transfers and finances:

- Small clubs accumulate unrealistic budgets and can sign world-class players too easily.

- Rival transfers between major clubs happen without resistance.

- League rewards (e.g., La Liga) are unrealistically high and break financial balance.

AI behavior:

- Teams use players out of position.

- Star players are benched without reason.

- Squads are poorly balanced.

Press conferences:

- Questions are repetitive and unrelated to context (e.g., after winning a title, no emotional or relevant questions are asked).

Club history and records:

- No tracking of all-time stats (top scorers, assists, appearances, etc.).

- Players cannot break or enter club historical records.

Live match context:

- No live updates from other matches during decisive games.

- No dynamic standings table during matches.

Suspensions and cards:

- No warning system for players close to suspension due to yellow card accumulation.

- The user is only informed after the match.

Scouting system:

- Lack of filters such as overall rating, price range, or wage limits.

Kit and goalkeeper issues:

- Goalkeepers can wear kits with similar colors to outfield players, causing confusion.

- There is no option to preview or adjust goalkeeper kits before matches.

Suggestion:

- Improve match logic to allow final attacking plays before ending games.

- Add financial realism, club reputation, and transfer logic to prevent unrealistic signings.

- Improve AI squad management and tactical decisions.

- Make press conferences dynamic and context-based (titles, losses, rivalries).

- Implement a full club history and record system with milestones.

- Add live match updates and real-time standings during games.

- Introduce suspension warnings and pre-match alerts for at-risk players.

- Improve scouting filters (rating, value, wages, roles).

- Add full kit control, including goalkeeper kit preview and manual selection to avoid color clashes.

These changes would transform Career Mode into a deeper, more realistic, and immersive football experience.

Additional Feedback:

Many players feel that Career Mode has not evolved at the same level as other game modes.

There is a strong demand from players who prefer a realistic football experience, focused on team building, strategy, and immersion.

Investing more in Career Mode would improve the overall quality and long-term success of the game.

  • También dejo este mensaje en español para la comunidad hispanohablante. Creo que el modo carrera necesita mucho más realismo en todos los aspectos.

  • Additional realism feedback:

Financial progression in Career Mode is unrealistic, especially for smaller clubs.

    Example:

Starting with a small club (e.g., a second division team), even with a modest initial investment, it is possible to quickly accumulate over 100 million after promotion and winning a domestic cup. This allows unrealistic transfers and breaks immersion.

In real football, promotion and cup success do not generate such high financial growth, especially for smaller clubs.

    Suggestion:

    - Adjust financial rewards based on club size, league, and real-world economics.

    - Limit rapid financial growth for smaller clubs to maintain realism and progression difficulty.

    Contracts and transfers:

There is no clear way to see contract length for players in other teams.

    Example:

It is not possible to plan signings based on contract expiration (e.g., signing players in their last 6 months).

    Suggestion:

    - Show contract duration for all players (or allow scouting to reveal it).

    - Add the possibility to track players close to contract expiration.

    - Improve realism in transfer planning and negotiation.

These changes would greatly improve long-term realism and strategic planning in Career Mode.

  • EA don't care about career mode either way, because they don't get revenue from it like ultimate team with packs so they would never make a big update on it.

  • Additional realism feedback regarding national team management:

National team job offers are unrealistic and break immersion.

    Examples:

    - Club managers receive offers to manage national teams while still actively managing a club, which is extremely rare in real football, especially at top level.

    - Top club managers (e.g., managing elite clubs) receive offers from unrelated or lower-profile national teams that do not match their reputation or career level.

    Suggestions:

    - Prevent managers from holding both a club and national team job at the same time, or make it extremely rare and context-based.

    - Match national team offers with manager reputation, achievements, and current club level.

    - Ensure logical career progression (e.g., top managers receive offers from top national teams).

    - Add realistic timing for offers (e.g., after major tournaments or when a national team is looking for a new coach).

These changes would greatly improve realism and career progression logic in Career Mode.

  • Career Mode Vision (Realistic Football Experience):

This is a vision of how Career Mode could evolve into a truly realistic and immersive football simulation.

    1. Realistic Economy:

    - Financial growth based on club size, league, and real-world structures.

    - Realistic TV rights and prize distribution.

    - Slower and more balanced progression for smaller clubs.

    2. Realistic Transfers:

    - Club reputation and player ambition affecting transfers.

    - Reduced unrealistic transfers between rival clubs.

    - More logical squad building by AI.

    3. Manager Career Logic:

    - Realistic job offers based on reputation and performance.

    - No unrealistic dual roles (club + national team).

    - Logical progression (small clubs → big clubs → national teams).

    4. Match Realism:

    - Matches should not end during clear attacking plays.

    - More realistic referee behavior and stoppage time logic.

    5. Live Match Experience:

    - Real-time updates from other matches.

    - Dynamic league table during games.

    - Realistic matchday atmosphere.

    6. Player Management:

    - Suspension warnings (yellow card accumulation).

    - Better contract visibility for transfer targets.

    - Strategic squad planning tools.

    7. Club Identity & History:

    - Record tracking (goals, assists, appearances).

    - Players entering club history when breaking records.

    - Stronger club identity and legacy systems.

    8. Press Conferences:

    - Context-based questions (titles, losses, rivalries).

    - More emotional and realistic interactions.

    9. Visual Realism:

    - All players should have at least a generated face (no silhouettes).

    - Better kit selection, including goalkeeper kit control.

    10. Scouting System:

    - Advanced filters (rating, value, wages, contract status).

    - More realistic player discovery and tracking.

    Goal:

To transform Career Mode into a deep, realistic football simulation where every decision matters and reflects real-world football.

This would attract players who prefer realism and long-term immersion over arcade-style gameplay.
