EA SPORTS FC 26: Critical Gameplay Feedback

This summary highlights severe imbalance issues in the current Ultimate Team (FUT) gameplay, leading to an unrealistic and uncompetitive experience with common match scores exceeding 10 goals.

1. Goal-Scoring Imbalance (Unrealistic Finishing)

OP Finishing Inside the Box: Goals scored from inside the penalty area have an unrealistically high conversion rate (near 95%+). This makes the skill and rating of the Goalkeeper virtually irrelevant.

Near Post/Tight Angle Meta: Shooting from a narrow angle on the side of the box results in a goal almost 100% of the time. This "broken" mechanic heavily penalizes defenders and removes realism.

Ineffective Long Shots: Shots taken from outside the box have an extremely low conversion rate (below 10%). This discourages varied attacking play and forces all attacks into the penalty box.

2. Defensive & Movement Breakdown

Overpowered Passing and Through Balls (OP Pace/Precision): Passing, especially through balls, is too fast and accurate, making it impossible for defenders to react in time or successfully intercept.

Slow & Clumsy Defenders (Poor AI): Centre Backs (CBs) are too slow to turn, react, and change direction, causing them to get beaten easily by simple close-control dribbling.

Ineffective Zonal Defense: Despite attempts to control defensive lines, the Defensive AI frequently leaves massive gaps, allowing attackers to easily penetrate the box and score.

    "This fundamental issue has persisted since FC 25 and continues into FC 26. The current gameplay is plagued by lightning-fast, exaggeratedly accurate passing and through balls which are simply unrealistic.

    ​The speed disparity is huge, with strikers and wingers being disproportionately faster than defenders.

    ​Worse still, defenders are constantly programmed to retreat deep into the penalty box, creating an open invitation for the attacker to simply make a quick turn inside the box and score instantly.

    ​This combination is the reason why many matches end with scores exceeding 10 goals, turning the game into an unrealistic attacking frenzy."

  • Very well put and completely agree.

    I'd add to this that strong defenders and cm/cdm's seem to have no physicality, being easily shrugged off and also beaten in the air by much weaker and shorter attackers.

    Apparently this is what the feedback they keep saying they listened/are listening to was what people wanted... 

    Casuals make up the VAST majority of this games playerbase and they are going to be off this game so fast this year unless changes are made.

    Lastly the polls that they hide away on their discord for people to vote on gameplay elements such as defending get around 7.5k votes... not exactly representative of the whole playerbase.

    The gameplay is horrendous. Defending is tedious, and completely tilted in the favour of plays spinning around the box, waiting for defenders to stumble around.

    It's created a an awful meta, that doesn't resemble football. But I guess EA would rather cow-tow to a few 'pro' gamers than the vast majority of their player base.
