FC 26 defensive AI is rubbish

Dear EA Team,
As a long-time fan of football video games, I am extremely disappointed with the release of FC26. This is by far the worst edition I have ever played, and honestly, the experience is terrible. The gameplay completely betrays the essence of football, especially with the unbalanced and unrealistic defensive AI, which destroys any sense of teamwork and makes individual dribbling far too easy. This seriously ruins the fun of the game.
The defensive players in FC26 simply back off without putting any real pressure on the attacker. They never try to make a real tackle or interception, so it’s almost effortless to get past the defense with simple ball control. This kind of design is far from real football and has greatly reduced the competitive and cooperative aspects that make these games enjoyable.
I hope you will listen to player feedback and urgently improve the defensive AI and team coordination to restore the real spirit of football to the game. If nothing changes, I and many friends are seriously considering not supporting your products in the future.
Thank you.

  • Very well put and I completely agree.

EA, would you care to comment on this post and this question?

If people need attackers ai to be good to help in the build up and attack then would you not agree that people also need defenders ai to be EQUALLY good and help in the defence?

You're game is severely unbalanced and it's making for a very repetitive, not enjoyable and boring experience thus far.

  • I’m playing on ultimate I’ve tried both competitive and authentic and I’m scoring 5 goals within the first half without reply.

I bought this game solely to play career mode and now it’s no fun

The gameplay feels cartoonish. There’s absolutely no control in defending defenders feel like they’re skating on ice, reacting half a second late, and constantly getting turned inside out by unrealistic, over-powered dribbling animations. It’s as if the game rewards chaos instead of skill.

The defending mechanics are completely broken. You can’t time tackles properly, your player switching feels delayed, and the defensive AI is clueless  they just stand and watch while attackers spin and dance around the box like it’s a circus act.

Meanwhile, dribbling has become laughable. Attackers move with ridiculous agility and acceleration that completely defy physics. The result is matches that feel more like arcade football than the realistic simulation EA claims to offer.
And the community has notice just look online. There are countless reels and clips showing how absurd the gameplay has become. People are mocking it, not enjoying it. That should tell EA something.

Every year we hope for improvement, and every year we get a game that feels more detached from real football. Instead of adding realism, FC 26 has taken a massive step backward.

EA please, listen to the community. Fix defending, tone down the over-powered dribbling, and bring back balance, control, and realism. The fans deserve better than this rushed, cartoonish gameplay.

The gameplay, without doubt, lacks any modicum of realism.  Its simply a mockery of football.

You'll often be involved in a game that is 3-3 after about 30 minutes.  The goals don't come from human error or genuine skill.  Instead (and my goals are included in this), a player will often dribble through a defender, or they'll fail to make a tackle for some undefinable reason.

EAFC 26 is so far tilted in favour of attacking play, the game is quite simply boring, unrealistic and generates no desire to play for any length of time.  Utterly disappointed with this years effort.
