Frustrating Gameplay Balance and Career Mode in FC 26
I’m writing this as a genuinely passionate player who wants this game to be better, because right now FC 26 is one of the most frustrating football games I’ve ever played. I’ve sat on this since the Beta testing and only got the game because someone lied and said things were fixed.
Defenders Feel Unrealistically Fast. It honestly feels like every defender in the game has 99 pace and 99 acceleration, no matter what their stats say. I’ll be using a winger with 91 acceleration and 89 pace, beat a defender one-on-one, sometimes even with a clean skill move — and yet they still manage to hook me back from behind or recover from across the pitch like they’ve got a turbo boost. At that point: What’s the point of pace stats? What’s the reward for beating your man? Why does it feel like the game just decides the defender will catch you anyway?
If this is meant to increase immersion or balance, it’s doing the opposite. It feels artificial, scripted, and unrealistic. In real football, if a defender is beaten and doesn’t have the speed, that’s danger. In this game, it barely matters.
Attacking Feels Restricted and Scripted because defenders always seem to recover instantly, attacking becomes a constant fight rather than something creative or exciting. Even after dribbling well, timing runs, pulling off skill moves they still snap back into position. It makes every attack feel crowded and predetermined.
Instead of feeling rewarded for skill, I feel like I’m battling the engine. That’s not fun — and over time, it makes the game feel unplayable.
Why in 2025 are we still unable to request a loan move in Player Career Mode?
In Manager Career players constantly ask for loans, push for transfers, even threaten to leave. But when you’re the player you’re stuck at your club, Or limited to a few agent-selected teams. That just feels backwards. Loan moves are a massive part of real football development. Not being able to request one makes Player Career feel restricted, outdated, and unrealistic. We should have the same freedom the AI.
When pace and stats doesn’t seem to matter, defenders feel superhuman, and career progression is locked behind limited choices…it stops being about football and starts being about frustration. I don’t want an easier game. I want a fair one. One where attributes matter, decisions matter, and my player’s journey actually feels like my journey.
