Updates and the game is trash

I don't play online. I am one of these old-school gamers who likes career mode, and the romanticism that comes with taking a small team up through the leagues. But every update is a disaster. The pace of the game is ridiculously overpaced. I can be playing world-class or professional, and it feels like I'm playing Prime Barcelona in real-time. It is impossible to dribble past people. I can't remember the last time I hit a long-range shot and scored. The whole game is just terrible. It was fine when it first came out, but the updates have totally ruined the game. It's unplayable for me in career mode. All it is is press, press, press. There's no joy to creating goals. Outside the box, inside the box, it's just constant pressing. Unrealistic speeds.

Agree with you guys! I played world class and it became unplayable! From a winning team to a losing team, like I'm playing against Real Madrid or Man City each frickin' match!

  • Couldn’t agree with you more. The update has turned Career mode to an absolut hassle. Facing prime Barca in attack and prime Milan in defence meanwhile it feels like Im playin with Tranmere Rovers.

  • Are you guys serious? I’m playing on ultimate with Bristol in the prem and I win every match without even trying. My team is 73 rated. They don’t even have shots on target. Maybe the lower difficulties are easier? This game is absolute trash. I think we can all agree on that

The dumbest part of all of this is not realizing that people playing on career mode want something like authentic game play. The new update is anything, but authentic. Nobody plays like this. The CPU regularly has double the passes of my team and I pass a lot. There is no tackling, no dribbling, no football.

They have no idea what the basic customer demand is for their products. I would love a better CPU in attack, but not at the cost of having anything like a real game. The fact that they released this says their product owners don't even know what the customers are spending their money for; I own product for my company so this is inexcusable. I had to go back and delete the game and reinstall  it and turn off updates.

The best thing they could do is revert this and work on cleaning up the gimmicks and weird play that make you say "WTF was that" out loud and often make me restart a game because I want the game to feel real. Fix how they count tackles (it so bad that you can occasionally get penalized for not making a tackle even through you take the ball from the opposing player) , get rid of the mysterious 4th dimension that the ball goes to for CPU to avoid losing the ball sometimes (it's so much work to get into the right positions on defense in player career that this is infuriating and I have watched a ton of replays to try to figure out where the ball goes), figure out how to make pace work without making it overpowered (as it is now it's just nerfed), fix the endless end to end play where the back line just gives ground until it hits the goal box, and especially fix it so the CPU actually changes strategy based on the team and players. There are no long ball teams and few dribbling players that will try a direct take on. It's just the same CPU brain with different attributes every time for every team and every player. It's so lazy.

Mostly they need to find the balance on helping defending versus helping passing and weirdly that probably means adjusting the game depending on the camera the player is using. I play on Co-op because it makes passing, and broad scope defending easier, but it makes the man to man defending more of a challenge. This is reversed for more zoomed in cameras. Feels like the game could be responsive for that.

What is depressing is that it's obvious that they not only don't understand their own customers, but they don't understand how their own game works. A smart company or one that cared enough about their customers to figure out their basic product requirements would have tried to improve the game to meet that, but I don't think that this is just that they don't know their customers; its that they don't know how to make their own game both authentic and more challenging.
