Clubs Match lobby size

Why on earth is the match lobby size made to benefit teams with bigger numbers? We've played 6 games tonight as a 2 and we haven't played a team with elss than 4 players once. It's such a disadvantage because they can cover the entire pitch where as we cant, you just get overwhelmed. I cant believe this has been a thing for years and EA still don't think it's an issue. Poor game design choice
