Accessibility suggestions for EA Sports FC 26

Hi EA FC Development Team,
I’m a blind player and use a screen reader (NVDA, with OCR scanning ) to navigate the game interface. Unfortunately, the current user experience is quite limited for visually impaired players: most information and controls are visually structured in ways that screen readers struggle to interpret properly.
Here are some  suggestions to help make EA Sports FC 26 more accessible:
1. Alternative text-based UI layouts
Provide an optional interface layout where key data (names, stats, controls, menus) are organized in a structured, plain-text format. This would allow screen readers to scan and read the content much more reliably.
2. Expanded keyboard command support
Introduce keyboard shortcuts for as many game functions as possible. Full keyboard operability is crucial for blind users and also benefits players with motor disabilities or those who prefer keyboard input.
3. Career Mode
Manager Career Mode is a great opportunity for accessibility, as matches can be simulated and followed passively. However, the current match commentary lacks depth and detail, making it hard for a blind user to fully understand what’s happening on the pitch. Enhancing the commentary to include clearer information (player names, ball position, type of play, phase of action) would turn this into a fully playable and immersive mode for blind gamers.
4. UI scripting or customization system
Consider adding a scripting or UI customization system that allows users to design or adapt interfaces. This would enable the accessibility community to build and share their own layouts, reducing pressure on your internal team while fostering innovation from the player base.

Accessibility is not just about inclusion—it’s also an opportunity for innovation. Making FC 26 accessible to blind players would open up the beautiful game to a whole new audience.

Hi EA team, my name is Calum and I   am a gamer who has a visual impairment. one potential accessibility tweak that could perhaps be made to this version is the introduction  of the screen reader functionality. This could utilise the inbuilt screen reader on PlayStation five and also utilising the narrator on Xbox.  This could be used to make   menu navigation throughout the game easier for blind/ visually impaired gamers be that within ultimate team or career mode. the simple but initiative solution would make the gaming experience for people who have a visual impairment so much easier and more enjoyable. Many games of more recent times have been moving forward in making gaming more inclusive and accessible to people with visual impairment but this game still stands in my opinion quite far behind even compared to smaller titles. Accessible Gaming for people with visual impairment or any other disability always seems to be an afterthought, yet simple Features and discussions can open up a world for people who are blind and want to game. Please, make these changes. 25+ years in development it’s about time.

  • Dear EA SPORTS team,

My name is Boris Šmigoc, and I play on a PS5 Pro using the PS5 Access Controller in combination with the DualSense™ Wireless Controller. I am a one-handed gamer with significantly limited finger mobility.

One of my favorite games is EA FC, but unfortunately, it’s very difficult to play using only the Access Controller, as the game does not fully support it as a standalone input device. In practice, it’s almost impossible to use both controllers together during gameplay.

Here are a few key accessibility challenges I’ve encountered:

    - saving penalties is extremely difficult, as L3 is needed to move the goalkeeper and R3 to dive – but the Access Controller only allows one stick to be mapped (L3 or R3),
    - you can’t move and perform skill moves at the same time, due to the lack of a second analog stick,

    - executing a powershot is nearly impossible for one-handed players, because it requires pressing too many buttons simultaneously.

    My suggestions:

    - for penalty situations, allow players to dive using the X button instead of R3,
    - add an option in the settings for automatic skill moves, so players don’t need to control the right stick manually,
    - enable multi-function button mapping, so players can assign combinations like L1+R1 to a single button.

These changes would greatly improve the accessibility of EA FC for players who rely on the PS5 Access Controller and play with one hand. I hope you’ll consider integrating these features in future updates.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    Boris - boorriicchhii
