Actions carrying over to the next player.

Is there any way to stop the next player from performing actions of the previous player?

You'd think they'd figure out it's a bad idea to carry over input from one situation to the next, but as it stands, as soon as I switch from defense to attack, it gets ruined by my attacking players performing action from defensive input. I try to clear the ball from a corner kick only to have my attacker on the other end sending one to the stands. If I want to cross and they get a hold of the ball before I get to do it, another one of my players gets booked for a slide tackle. 

Is there any way to mitigate that? Is there a way to adjust time of expiration? Has to be, right?
