Lack of player engagement

I've been playing career mode for the best part of 15-20 years and its safe to say it now feels very stale. There's very little to keep the player engaged, player and manager career mode could be so good if EA would just strip it all back and start again rather than being in this rut of keeping the same base game with a couple of minor additions, now I'm not saying strip it back every year but these 2 game modes are so overdue a decent refurbishment it's ridiculous. I'd love to have something to actually work towards in these 2 game modes besides the obvious winning the title and making your team better, I loved the journey and EA showed another angle of what can be done with this game with that, I wish they'd take things from that and put it into player career mode to make it so much more immersive. Working your way from a youth player to first team, to starter etc all the way up to Captain would be a simple but great addition to player career so we actually have something to work towards. Manager career mode also needs huge additions to try and make it an engaging and immersive experience. On a side note losing the option to request a loan was an awful decision in player career mode.

  • Unfortunately if they can't monetise the mode like FUT then you won't see any improvement in Player Career or Manager Career mode. EA higher ups don't care about anything other than FUT. And I quote this is what the hire ups are saying behind closed doors in meetings: "If there's no additional long term financial benefit for the company then its a waste of resource if we waste time improving Player career and Career Mode. Our main focus is FUT." So don't get your hopes up. EA are very good at saying that they are listening to the fans with feedbacks which in fact they are not, the only feedback they are listening to are of the Hire ups management and content creator (who lets be honest EA pay for just to say good things about their games).

WE DON'T MATTER. Because they know we will buy the game regardless.

I agree. This has been evident ever since FUT came out, when FUT came out and it took off and in turn made EA bags of extra revenue career mode unfortunately suffered the most. Most of the career mode only players are the Original players that have been with the franchise playing and buying the game well over a decade. Unfortunately it does seem as though our loyalty is not reciprocated and we're being left to deal with a stale game with just enough added new touches for EA to be able to make a montage of supposed new improvements to offline gameplay to draw us back in and disappoint us once again. Shame, but true.

It'd be nice for a game developer to come along and actually challenge EA's offline content, making a new and better career mode etc, it would be easy for a developer to challenge the current state of player and manager career mode and I think so many of the offline players are fed up that a new developer would easily get us to move over, maybe then EA would up their game.

Absolutely, I’m with you on this. I really hope a new studio steps up to give offline career modes the attention they’ve been missing. Imagine a system built around real progression milestones from youth academy breakthroughs to cracking the starting XI and eventually captaining the side complete with dynamic press‐conference drama, contract negotiations, and off‐field choices that genuinely shape your journey.

All of that, and not a single prompt to buy packs or chase microtransactions. A fresh competitor delivering modular, story‐rich gameplay like this would pull a huge chunk of the community away from EA overnight.
