Player Career Mode

When you decide to play as just the character you have made why does your team just play dreadful? It isnt entertaining whatsoever and ive always been a fan of player career but the ai just dont tackle the opposition and make it so hard. I am currently playing as a striker so i cant run far down to help with tackles since i will be complained at for being out of position but god it gets really infuriating. Thanks.
