Yea the big change for defense is being able to make a tackle if you control the defense while also nerfing the ai and doubling how easy offense is to offset the change.
To me that’s the bare minimum of defense being advertised as being able to finally make a tackle.
But if that’s to hard for new players like I said just remove defense and keepers in the non competitive modes.
But yeah competitive modes like wl and rivals should at least be manual offense. I realize this might be hard for new players but this is the only way to have a skill gap.
I suppose I am an old gamer when new players played they just learned the game and got better as they went. Now it’s just remove the skill so everyone can play.
I would say it's a 99.99% guarantee that you learned on assisted and so on. I've played since around FIFA08 and I learned on assisted shooting and the like then went to semi assisted. Even back then semi assisted was still heavily assisted.
You act like there isn't a skill gap, but I've been placed against lower division players in champs a couple of times and the skill gap is real. I picked up the game in December and went straight up through to division 3, because of the skill gap. A lot people playing the game probably had at least a couple of months to get used to the game, but I breezed through the lower divisions. Why? Because of a skill gap.
You do understand that you predominantly face people around the same division as you right? That's why it stops feeling like there is a skill gap, once you hit where you can get to that is your skill level, and the people around will mostly have the same skill level. Even if you change everything to manual all you do is change the way the skill gap is decided. New players are not the ones out here picking up the game and playing you as if they have been playing for years, it's most likely people with alt accounts.
Again this will sound rude, but I really am confused by the way you talk about skill gaps, sometimes you give off the impression that you don't fully understand skill gaps. I'll give you an example, I haven't played online seasons on this game yet, but I can guarantee you that if I start playing it tomorrow I will breeze my through to at least Division 3 barely losing a game. I may lose a few games to smurf accounts, but the majority will be against LOWER skilled players, making them easy wins. I've done an alt account myself before in a couple of FIFA games, on one of them I played online seasons and from Div 10 all the way to Div 1 I lost one game to another alt account.
The skill gap will always exist, you don't need everything to be manual to create something that already exists. Once you hit your skill cap it feels like there isn't one because everyone around you has the same skill. EA messed up this year and the skill gap from top rated players down was mostly speed boost, broken trivelas, and broken formations, but even outside of those three things I can tell you that I have faced many people better than me. I'm just happy to admit it, I'm also happy to admit that I'm not as good as I used to be, but I'm not trying to be I just want to enjoy it these days.
