Request to change linked PSN while keeping the same EA Account and FC progress

Hello,

EA Help specifically referred me to the EA Forums and advised me to contact the Community Managers here, as they may be able to confirm this situation with the development team.

I have a very old EA Account, created around 2010, which I have been using for many years. My priority is to preserve this exact EA Account, its history, seniority and, most importantly, my EA SPORTS FC progress and content.

My current setup is:

PSN ID: magelupa → my original EA Account

What I need is:

PSN ID: magelupa97 → the SAME original EA Account

I am not asking to transfer progress from one EA Account to another. The EA Account would remain exactly the same. I only need to replace the PlayStation Network account linked to it.

There is some additional context that may be important. My brother and I are separating/reorganising our PlayStation accounts so that each of us can use our respective accounts independently. We have full access to all the PSN and EA accounts involved and can verify ownership if necessary.

We have also reorganised the email addresses accordingly. The PSN account magelupa97 now uses the same email address as my original EA Account, while magelupa now belongs with the other person's credentials. Therefore, the desired final setup correctly matches my EA Account with my own PSN account.

Currently, magelupa97 is already linked to another EA Account. We have access to that EA Account as well and have no problem unlinking it if necessary.

Ideally, we would like to swap the associations:

magelupa97 → my original EA Account (created around 2010)
magelupa → the other EA Account

However, the second association is not important. My absolute priority is the first one.

EA Help has explained to me that normally FC progress cannot be transferred from one PSN account to another. I understand that limitation. However, because I am keeping the exact same EA Account, rather than transferring anything between EA Accounts, I would like to know whether there is any exceptional procedure or possibility for the development/account team to change the linked PSN while preserving my existing FC progress, Ultimate Team history/content and the history/seniority associated with my EA Account.

I have not unlinked anything yet because I do not want to risk losing approximately 16 years of account history or any progress/content.

Could a Community Manager please confirm this with the relevant team or developers, as EA Help specifically suggested?

I am happy to provide the EA Account email addresses or any other account information privately if verification is required.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review this.

  • Hey magelupa lot going on there and I don't think that I can offer any more assistance than our live support team has already.

When it comes to something like this, the options available are limited, if linking or unlinking accounts then you can't move any saved or in-game content.

We have a help article that goes through the unlinking process and what it entails which you can find here

When you unlink a platform account from your EA Account, you can link it to another EA Account, but your game progress won’t transfer over. That means you’ll permanently lose access to:

    • game progress
    • DLC, expansions, and anything extra you have for your game
    • memberships and subscriptions
    • previous drops and other rewards
    • in-game purchases.

Heads-up: if you unlink your platform account and link it to a different EA Account, any entitlements, like in-game rewards, points, and items, will remain on the EA Account that your platform was first linked to.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks Darko. I understand the limitation you described, but I would like to clarify one final point because I think there may be a distinction between the situation in the help article and what I am trying to do.

    The article says:

    Platform account A → EA Account A

    then unlinking it and doing:

    **Platform account A → EA Account B**

will not transfer the progress. I completely understand that.

However, what I am asking about is:

**PSN magelupa → EA Account A**

    changing to:

**PSN magelupa97 → the SAME EA Account A**

EA Account A would never change. I am not trying to move the content or entitlements to another EA Account.

I understand that the actual FC game progress may still be tied specifically to the PSN account, and if that is the case, then unfortunately I understand that it cannot be done.

But could you please confirm specifically whether this is also true when **keeping the exact same EA Account and only replacing the linked PSN account**?

And separately, would the **EA Account itself retain its original creation date/seniority (around 2010), account history and any status associated with its age**, even though the newly linked PSN would start with fresh FC progress?

That distinction is particularly important to me because I would at least like to preserve my original EA Account and its ~16 years of history.

Thank you again for taking the time to clarify this.
