Skill-based matchmaking.

What is the reason for secretly adding a skill-based matchmaking system? For the past few weeks I've noticed that no matter the division, rank, friendly match, etc., the game only matches you with people of a similar level what is known as skill base matchmaking.

It's noticeable because when searching for a match, the game takes minutes to find an opponent; it's noticeable because, being from Europe, it finds me matches with 50 ping, when my normal ping is 14. This is because the skill-based matchmaking is looking for people of my level everywhere, making it pointless to play the game since every mode is highly competitive.

Honestly, if they keep this skill-based matchmaking, I'm quitting the game. It's impossible to have fun in any game mode because it forces you to compete as if your life depended on it.

I can attach proof of 5 or 6 match searches where it only finds opponents with a ping of 50, even with crossplay and proximity matchmaking enabled... Why are they secretly adding things?

The fact is that until last year there weren't any major problems with the MM...
I don't remember there being any complaints about it...
Maybe because there were so many checkpoints that even prevented you from going back...
This year they removed them practically everywhere and, lo and behold, the complaints started...
It wasn't a good initiative on EA's part in my opinion.

    Yes, but my question is:
How long can casual players survive at this level before throwing the game out the window???
I'm not a casual player; I've been playing UT for many years and I'm on the verge of canceling at EAFC!

onepunchko that's not entirely true, I'm not some wannabe pro super sweat, I'm just alright at the game. Yeah I use some meta players, but I also use players that aren't meta and I couldn't tell you which formations are meta or overpowered. I'm literally just playing the game, and a lot more casually than I used to do at that.

I've only played for like 2 weeks at release, and came back like 7 or 8 days ago, I guarantee I've faced some sweats, I'm just not paying attention to them really.

Unfortunately, as with all games it is impossible to truly seperate the casual players from the sweats. All it takes is to start a new account and they can be back playing against them. Every game is filled with truly toxic players these days, that only feel happy when they destroying people that are worse at the game than them. Casual players will need some form of protection, but that is for EA to figure out and implement.
