Controller input registry

I've downloaded FC26 on PC, but when I open the game and navigate the menu, my controller inputs don't register half the time, and when it does register it almost like holds the input, so for example if i flick my left stick down, and it registers, it will go down 2 or 3 menu items rather than just one. At first I thought it was the controller but this happens with both my controllers and also even my keyboard, all of which work well on my PC whether they are wired or bluetooth, so then I thought it was something in my PC, but the controller works just fine in other games and also the Xbox Accessories tester. This evidence has led me to believe the issue has to do with FC26 specifically and I am looking for some answers/suggestions on how to fix it.

- The controller is an Xbox one controller
- I downloaded the game through the EA app from EA play
