EA gameplay issues
Dear EA Team,
Observing how the game has evolved over recent years and how the EA community has grown—with creators active on platforms such as YouTube, X, etc.—it is noticeable that you are no longer indifferent to our requests and suggestions. With hope, I am sending you this message to present issues that concern me from the perspective of a Career Mode / offline player.
Below are the main points that, in my opinion, require improvement.
GAMEPLAY
1. Lofted passes → for years this has been the biggest issue → this may result from overly aggressive marking; opponents transition into defensive positioning far too quickly. The ball often stays in the air for too long. I don’t understand why, but every lofted pass results in the recipient contesting an aerial duel, even though at the moment of the pass his position was FREE.
2. Tiring, limited ball-control animations
3. Crosses into the box → often played “behind” the intended recipient; the target player is also very often marked too tightly.
3. Lack of variety and offensive options, both for the player and the CPU — e.g. long lofted passes from deep areas (even from 40 meters away from the opponent’s goal) → they almost always end the same way: an aerial duel between striker and defender; they are too repetitive and predictable.
We truly do not want a realistic gameplay mode to be based solely on through balls and sprinting (this is how FUT players play; it is a pattern-based game).
4. Ball trajectory after a goalkeeper punch or a deflection off an opponent → the ball usually rebounds only a few meters; in reality, the ball travels much farther.
5. Goalkeeper goal kicks always land on a striker’s head near the halfway line → in reality, goalkeepers can kick the ball 50–60 meters or play it into open space; that is exactly why we have the circle or (!) square buttons on the controller.
6. In offline play there are too few set pieces (corners, free kicks) and so-called loose balls; this is precisely what we expect from more realistic gameplay.
CAREER MODE
1. Youth Academy → enthusiasts of this mode play many seasons on a single save. We place great importance on developing wonderkids and derive a lot of satisfaction from it. Currently, we need:
— young talents to actually develop physically as well (height),
— their faces and appearance to resemble real men — hairstyles, facial hair, body shape, physical build.
2. Transfers are an absolutely key issue that causes increasing frustration year after year; they are far too random.
3. Stadiums → in the ’23 edition (from 2022), the ability to edit stadiums for clubs without official venues was added. This was a great step that compensated for the lack of licensed stadiums, which we value greatly.
4. Pitch quality → over the past 13 years, very little has changed regarding pitch quality; its appearance in-game is unnatural and discouraging. I would even hesitate to say that for some reason it looks worse year after year.
5. Weather conditions → playing in snow or rain is uncomfortable; in the era of heated pitches and covered stadiums, FC poorly reflects weather conditions in terms of physics → the ball moves more slowly on the pitch, while weather conditions do not affect goalkeepers, shots on goal, ball control issues, etc. Even after disabling visual weather effects, the remaining visual elements are irritating for players.
There are not many problems, and individually they are not critical, but together they affect the player in a synergistic way. With a relatively small amount of work, you could fix a great deal.
To conclude, I am glad that FC continues to develop; however, I see one issue that is the most important factor affecting my and my colleagues’ dissatisfaction. That issue is gameplay. We buy this game because of gameplay. I am somewhat concerned, having played FC over the past several months, to notice that your competition does many things better—and those games are often free.
Thank you for listening.
