FC26 Career Mode Player Configuration Bug

In FC26 manager career mode, I want to change the shoes and accessories of the players on my team. I do this from the player editing screen, but after leaving this screen, all my edits disappear and the players revert to their original state. Is there anyone else experiencing this issue and able to resolve it? This problem has been in the game for a long time and still hasn't been fixed.
