Re: PC Controller NOT WORKING online - Why it fails and how to temporarily solve it

I am experiencing a critical issue in EA SPORTS FC 26 on PC (Windows laptop) using an Xbox controller.
Issue Summary:
- Game mode affected: FUT Rivals
- Problem: I cannot control any players during matches. Only limited actions like passing work.
- Observations:
1. The controller works perfectly in menus.
2. The controller works in other modes, including:
- Rush
- Squad Battles
3. The problem occurs **only in FUT Rivals**.
4. Sometimes, very briefly, I regain control over my players and can switch between them, but after a few seconds, control is lost again.
5. Keyboard is never touched during gameplay.
6. Player Lock is OFF.
7. Steam Input is tested both ON and OFF, problem persists.
8. joy.cpl shows only my Xbox controller (no extra input devices detected).
9. Controller buttons are correctly displayed in menus and are functional.
10. This issue happens every match in Rivals.
Environment:
- Laptop
- OS: Windows 11
- Game version: EA SPORTS FC 26 latest update
- Controller: Xbox Wireless Controller
- Launch platform: EA App / Steam (tested both)
- Internet: Stable connection
Reproduction Steps:
1. Launch EA SPORTS FC 26 on PC with Xbox controller.
2. Enter FUT Rivals match (11v11 online).
3. During match, attempt to control players.
4. Players do not respond to controller input except for limited actions like pass.
5. Occasionally, temporary control is regained, then lost again.
Additional Notes:
- Other online modes (Rush) work correctly with the same controller.
- Offline modes (Squad Battles) work correctly with the same controller.
- This indicates the issue is **specific to FUT Rivals online input layer**.
Request:
Please investigate this input assignment bug. It appears to be a **server-side Competitive Input Layer issue** for Xbox controller users on Windows laptops. A fix is required so that players can reliably control their team in Rivals matches.
