Game fails to launch

After the download of anticheat game disappears and throws back to the EA app. One time I got error 17 and 1060 then the same disappearing happened.

  • Hi there, sorry to hear you're running into this.

This error happens when EA Javelin anticheat can't find the installation folder or can’t start the game. There are two ways to fix this.

    • Relaunch the EA app (even if you got the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store) as an admin by right-clicking on it and choosing Run As Administrator. Then, relaunch the game directly from the EA app.
    • Reinstall EA Javelin anticheat.

I did more things while I waited.

    1. Uninstalled and reinstalled EA Javelin Anticheat from scratch using EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe, restarted after.
    2. Checked the service status via Services, EAAntiCheatService shows "Stopped." Right-clicking it and choosing "Start" gives: "Error 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service."
    3. Checked the registry directly (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\), there's an EAAntiCheat driver key, but no EAAntiCheatService key half the time. Reinstalling makes it show up again for a bit, then it disappears once the game fails to launch again. Confirmed this by checking the same registry path before and after multiple reinstall/launch attempts.
    4. Checked in File Explorer, the actual files (EAAntiCheat.GameService.exe, .dll, EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe, preloader_s.dll) are sitting right there in C:\Program Files\EA\AC\ even when the service registry key is gone.
    5. Ran "Repair" from the EA app 68MB repaired, no change.
    6. Checked Windows Security, Virus and threat protection, Protection history, nothing quarantined related to EA AntiCheat.
    7. Checked my GPU driver version, saw I was on 610.74. Rolled it back to 610.62 through the NVIDIA App, same exact issue after.
    8. Disabled Memory Integrity (Core Isolation) in Windows Security and tested, same issue.
    9. Did a full clean boot: disabled all non-Microsoft services, disabled every startup app (ShareX, TranslucentTB, SteelSeries GG, Intel RST, etc.). Had to turn EA's own background services back on because the EA app wouldn't even open without them. Restarted and tested, still crashed the same way with basically nothing else running. Disabling all those services just to open the game caused Brave browser to detect it as a security risk and reset itself, wiping all my extensions and pinned tabs in the process. So just to try and launch this game once, I've now also lost my entire browser setup.
    10. Confirmed via DxDiag no display driver problems reported.

    Errors found in Event Viewer:

"EA Javelin Anticheat", Event ID 1000.

    • Mostly: ExitType: 95 (267)
    • Sometimes: "Failed retrieving service path"

    System:

    • Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (Build 26100)
    • RTX 3060 Laptop GPU
    • TPM 2.0 ready, Secure Boot on

At this point I've reinstalled the anticheat, rolled back my GPU driver, disabled Memory Integrity, repaired the game, and done a clean boot, and it's still broken the exact same way every time.

And honestly, at this point I think this is on EA. This game has been out for almost a year now. It's genuinely ridiculous that a company as big as EA, with one of the most popular game franchises out there, still has players digging this deep into Windows service registries and event logs just to launch the game. If the company is going to insist on kernel-level anticheat specifically to avoid the headaches of a non-kernel detection setup, the bare minimum expectation is that the kernel-level component actually installs and registers itself reliably. Right now it seems it can't even do that consistently. Funny thing is I won't even play multiplayer, I wanna play career mode so anticheat literally means nothing to me but here we are. Is there something left I should do in order to launch the game properly and look at the main menu for the first time?
