Matchmaking Manipulation, Inconsistent Gameplay

Hi EA Sports,

I need a serious explanation — not a copy-paste FAQ response, but an actual, human answer.

What criteria does FC26 use for matchmaking in Champions? Because what I’m experiencing is not competitive balance — it’s a disgrace.

One day I go 8 wins out of 10 with the same squad, the same tactics, the same everything. The very next day, those same players move like they’re running through concrete. They can’t hold the ball, can’t finish, can’t do anything right. My squad didn’t change. My tactics didn’t change. The only thing that changed is that EA apparently decided it wasn’t my turn to win.

This is not a skill issue. This is your game deliberately throttling performance based on whatever hidden algorithm you’ve buried in the code. It’s manipulative, it’s dishonest, and frankly, it’s insulting to every player who spends real money on this title.

I pay for this game. I pay for points. I pay for Ultimate Team content. And in return, I get matches where my players are physically incapable of scoring a goal — not because of my opponents, but because the game itself has been configured to produce a specific outcome.

If this is by design, say so. If it’s a bug, fix it. Either way, you owe your playerbase transparency.

This is my formal complaint. FC26 will be the last title in this series I ever purchase. I will not be buying FC27, and I will be sharing my experience across every platform available to me.

You’ve lost a loyal customer. I hope it was worth it.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

    ea 100% does stuff to decide what level of opponent you will face. Every fut champs weekend, I get 7or 8 wins usually the first 6 games i win them comfortably then after that you seem to suddenly face much better opponents. If it was completely random, then there would be more variance in results each weekend.

    While all is agreeable to what you have put, unfortunately EA don’t care. This forum to say about improvements, or moan about the game due to what ever is wrong just gets ignored. EA don’t care about the player base. It’s only profits they care about, and selling the shiny new cards in lowest of low odd packs. And for some reason the new shiny cards always seem so good until the next shiny one comes out. It’s been like it for years, but ea knows there is no competition to the FC series so they can take the Micky, people will put up and moan every year

    I stopped playing champions on the weekend because of matching making issues over the past several years.  I would win games and generally the next few games would be easier and then when I lost a game I probably should have won the games would get much harder.  It seems like whatever parameters they have set for matching making are messed up and might not reset after each game.

    I haven't played a single game of Champs since Christmas 2024; the matches are a grind (games shouldn't feel like work), the opponents often toxic and the matchmaking usually unfair. It made for a poor experience and the rewards were generally worse and certainly no better than Squad Battles, Rivals, and now Gauntlet, etc, etc. 

    A pro-gamer recently posted on social media that they are on a 316-0 winning streaks in Champs. That should be impossible. Why? Because that person should be getting matched up against similar players and even the best pros in the world lose games (see it regularly in the online tournaments, etc).
