Ultimate Team Evolution PlayStyle Removal – Unai López Road to the Knockouts

Dear EA Sports Ultimate Team Support Team,

I am writing to express my frustration and confusion regarding a recent Ultimate Team card update that removed a feature I paid for. I play EA Sports FC 26 Ultimate Team on PS5, and this is my first time contacting support about an issue. The problem concerns my Unai López Road to the Knockouts live card and its Evolution upgrades.

A few weeks ago, I applied the “Song of Touré” Evolution to my Unai López card, which cost me 50,000 in-game coins. This Evolution was supposed to enhance López’s passing abilities – it granted him all three key passing PlayStyles (Tiki-Taka, Pinged Pass, and Incisive Pass). In fact, Incisive Pass was upgraded to a PlayStyle+ as a result of the Evolution. I was very happy with this upgrade, as having all three passing PlayStyles (with Incisive Pass as a PlayStyle+) was the main reason I invested so many coins in the Evolution.

Recently, the Unai López card received a live upgrade because his team (Rayo Vallecano) met all the conditions in the Europa League for an upgrade. The card’s overall rating increased (from 85 to 87) and it gained a new PlayStyle+ (Tiki-Taka was upgraded to a PlayStyle+ due to the team’s progression) . While I appreciate the rating boost, I was dismayed to find that this upgrade removed the Incisive Pass PlayStyle from my card entirely. The Incisive Pass, which I previously had at the gold PlayStyle+ level thanks to the Evolution, is now gone – it wasn’t even retained at the normal (silver) level. Essentially, the update replaced my Incisive Pass+ with Tiki-Taka+, leaving my card with one PlayStyle+ and without the Incisive Pass ability at all.

This outcome feels extremely unfair and disappointing. I spent a significant amount of coins specifically to obtain the Incisive Pass PlayStyle (alongside the others) on Unai López. Removing a core attribute that I paid for undermines the value of that purchase. I understand that the game may be designed such that a card can only have one PlayStyle+ at a time (the Primetime upgrade rules mention a maximum of one PlayStyle+ per card) . However, simply stripping away a previously earned PlayStyle is not an acceptable solution from a player’s perspective. If having two PlayStyle+ abilities is technically not allowed, I believe the card should have at least been allowed to keep the Incisive Pass as a normal PlayStyle (silver) rather than losing it completely. As it stands now, I ended up losing a feature (Incisive Pass) that I had invested in, which feels like a step backward.

I kindly request that you address this issue in some way. Ideally, I would like the Incisive Pass PlayStyle restored to my Unai López card. If it cannot be restored as a PlayStyle+, then please consider adding it back as a normal PlayStyle (so that the card retains the Incisive Pass ability in some form). This would at least ensure that the Evolution I paid for isn’t partially negated. If an individual fix for my card isn’t possible immediately, I urge the team to look into this problem with Evolution cards losing PlayStyles after upgrades. I have seen other Ultimate Team players report similar issues (for example, an evolved Fermin López card lost its “Rapid” PlayStyle+ when it was replaced by a new one after an upgrade – which they also felt was unfair). This seems to be a broader oversight with the Evolution/Live-card system, and it significantly impacts the user experience for those of us investing in Evolutions.

My goal is to enjoy the game and the players I’ve developed; I hope to see this matter resolved so that I (and others in the community) do not feel discouraged from using the Evolution feature in the future.
