wide player roles not being effective?

Hi all,

not sure if this is an issue on old gen, but i feel like some player roles are not working like last year. i am playing 4141 with both LM and RM as inside forward to cut in, with CMs as DLP defend and both fullbacks on wingback to essentially have the wide mids drift in to become CAMs and fullback to overlap, but i feel like the wide midfielders are not doing their job and causing the wingbacks to not push up to overlap. anyone else experiencing this? 

FYI every player in the team has the + on their role, so they should be doing what i want them to do.
