Career mode bugs and improvments the mode desperately needs
I played half a season in career mode now with Barcelona and Im pretty underwhelmed because of all the bugs that make the good ideas the career mode team had not really enjoayable.
- Rodri wants to leave because I didnt include him in the matchday squad because his fitness was super low and because I have limited bench spots I decided to leave him out for 1 match and include a talent, which led to him contacting me that he wants to leave.
- We need more spots on the bench like in real life. I dont even really get the chance to include talents in the matchday squad because there are not enough spots on the bench and therefore I have to leave someone important out who will complain the next day and ask for a transfer.
- Olmo and Gavi asked to be loaned out because they are rotational players ( which is the agreed role in their contract) but now Im forced to loan them even if I would rather sell them I cant change their transfer status, that makes absolutely no sense. I understand them wanting to leave in search for more game time but I would like to have the option to sell them.
- Teams are hording players again. Example: Real Madrid sign Diogo Costa despite having Courtois, Liverpool signing Kvaratshkhelia despite having Barcola, Chelsea signing Oyarzabal and Thuram despite having Pedro, Emegha and Welbeck.
- It takes way too long for players to main a position. I have been using Raphinha as a striker for the whole season and he has 20 goals and 15 assists in the 20 games I have played so far in LaLiga and he still has a higher OVR if I just put him on LW. Players should automatically switch to a new position if you use them there for long enough and it should be quicker if they perform well.
- Goalkeeper fitness needs rebalancing because Joan Garcia is never match fit despite not having an injury. Keepers rarely get tired in real life and play almost every match. I would have to rotate my keeper every 3 matchdays just to keep him in the green area of fitness. Gerneral fitness is also a bit too harsh especially when you use a team that play 3 or 4 competitions but for keepers its an extreme case.
- Balde, who Ive been using only 2 times this season got a Base OVR for some reason and his morale is not even down. He is content despite having the role "important" in his contract. I noticed this with Malo Gusto from Chelsea who I wanted to sign too, he played 2 matches for them and he still has a 82 Baseline OVR.
- I like the gameplay but sometimes players just start making random, unnecessary skill moves in front of goal and they also cross the ball randomly despite facing no opponent pressure and a simple pass being the more intelligent choice.
- I like that there are more fouls in the game but the style of fouls should change a bit instead of slide tackling players left and right there should be fouls for running too fast in an opponent and shouldering him like back in FIFA 17. Also I feel like there should be slightly more tactical fouls.
- I cant block offers for my star players because apparently they want to leave despite never contacting me and I have not given them any reason to leave.
- I cant loan players for 1/2 a yearwhen they have 1 1/2 years left on their contract because of their contract situation same for the players that I want to loan out from my club and when I want to renew them Im told that the player currently does not want to engage in contract talks and I have to wait for him to contact me which is not realistic at all.
- All of the loan offers I received were 2 year loans despite 1 year or 1/2 year (especially in winter transfer window) being more common in real life this needs balancing as well.
- I noticed a rather small mistake like a Dollar sign being used in negotiations despite selecting Euros as currency
- When I tried to sign Ngumoha from Liverpool they told me they were unwilling to sell I approached them twice and even declared interested after the first approach failed but that did not help but then I saw him moving to Bayern despite them saying they dont want to sell. Something similar happened when I wanted to sign Livramento from Newcastle I approached them 3 times and they always told me they did not have enough players in that position ( they had dedic and still more than enough time in the window) and on deadline day they signed 2 left backs ( one of them can play RB) and sold livramento to Liverpool, so they did not even give me a chance because I was 1 or 2 days too early, which makes no sense. A club that inquired about a player should at least be contacted again with a message saying they are now willing to negotiate just like it happens in real life.
- Saudi clubs are not active enough in the transfer window the biggest signing from them was Flamingo from PSV to Al Hilal for 18M I feel like they should sign bigger names.
- Maybe its just a coincidence but big injurys didnt happen for me in game yet were I was forced to sub off a players the only big injuries were the ones from training.
- I feel like tactics could be a bit more immersive for example corner tactics are not really a thing in the game you can just assign where a player should stand which is confusing as well because you cant see it in a preview or something like in Football Manager.
- There should also a penalty and captain hierarchy.
- We should be able to change CPU sliders once in career mode and we should be able to set hotkeys like back when we could press triangle to go to emails.
This is the biggest criticism I have so far I didnt mention a few improvments because I saw that apparently its being worked on like a new UI, a new youth academy system and player data like total goals and transfer history. All in all I feel like there are some thing that make it seem like the game was barely tested before releasing because I found out about some of the bugs 20 minutes into the game.
