Issue has been happening since FC 24, and mostly occurs when playing all Manager Career mode matches offline. The game system is not able to complete all career backend data saves if game exited to main menu quickly after last career event; match, editing player, editing squad, or dashboarding game immediately after finishing career matches. On the next game startup the corrupted data does not match internally, and career mode saves dissapear with auto saved careers unable to load properly. These events can occur at any time when playing offline, not just after updates, but is most frequent then. No game patches can fix the errors, only two methods for protecting ongoing career saves: at the start of new career save, immediately create a backup version. Personal method is appending an 'AS' (game auto save) at the end of initial save when advancing to first day of career at end of startup menu, and then backup save appended with 'MS' (manual save). After each major career event; signing players, playing matches, etc. always save the 'AS' file first, then the other to ensure all autosaved data is attached to one specific file. If an update happens when there is ongoing career, usually the 'AS' file is deleted, but you can still load the 'MS' file, which should be identical. Need to create another 'AS' file after update deletes the original. Other method for avoiding issues is to always be logged into your EA Account while playing Manager Career. All data is saved both locally and in the cloud, making complete deletion extremely rare. For offline players who do not care about Season Pass or Manager Live, still get the benefits of save protection, but must deal with the annoying quirks of online features.
