Football life simulator
Football Life Simulator – The Next Evolution of Player Career
Hi EA SPORTS FC team and FC community,
I have an idea for a completely new direction for Player Career Mode.
I call it Football Life Simulator (FLS).
The idea is simple:
Don't just play the career of a footballer. Live it.
⚽ On the pitch
The actual football would still work like Player Career/My Player.
You control only your own player, while the AI controls your teammates and opponents.
You would have:
- Training sessions
- Matchday preparation
- Dressing room and warm-up
- Manager instructions
- Match performance and ratings
- Playing time based on your performances
- Transfers and contract negotiations
But the biggest difference would happen between matches.
🏠 Life outside football
Imagine finishing training and actually having a life outside the stadium.
You could:
- Drive to training, matches or home
- Buy and customize cars
- Buy and decorate apartments or houses
- Visit restaurants and shops
- Go to the gym
- Spend time with teammates
- Manage your salary and personal finances
- Take part in social activities
It wouldn't need to be a huge GTA-style open world.
A small football-focused city would be enough: your home, training centre, stadium, shops, restaurants and a few other locations.
And everything should be optional. If you don't want to drive somewhere, simply skip it.
🧠 Your choices affect your career
This is where FLS could become really interesting.
Your behaviour should matter.
For example:
Professional player
- Trains regularly
- Arrives on time
- Takes care of fitness
- Performs well
➡️ More manager trust
➡️ More playing time
➡️ Better contracts
➡️ More sponsorship opportunities
Problematic player
- Arrives late
- Skips training
- Gets into arguments
- Parties too much
➡️ Fines
➡️ Less playing time
➡️ Loss of manager trust
➡️ Possible transfer or contract problems
The same player could therefore have a completely different career depending on his decisions.
📱 Reputation & social media
Add a reputation system influenced by:
- Interviews
- Social media
- Behaviour
- Relationships with teammates
- Performance
- Relationship with the manager
You could become known as a role model, a normal professional, a superstar or a controversial player.
Your reputation could affect sponsors, transfers, relationships and opportunities.
💰 A real footballer's progression
Start small.
Maybe you're a young player with a small apartment and an inexpensive car.
Then you work your way up:
Academy → First-team debut → Starter → Bigger club → International football → Superstar → Legend
Your salary, lifestyle, reputation and opportunities grow with your career.
👔 And then… retirement doesn't end the save
This is one of my favourite parts of the idea.
When your player retires, the career continues.
You can become a football manager.
Start with:
U15 → U17 → U19 → B Team → First Team → National Team
You develop young players, build your team and eventually manage the biggest clubs in the world.
Even better:
A young player you developed could eventually become a superstar for your first team.
That would make one save potentially last for decades.
🚀 Start small
EA wouldn't need to build everything at once.
A first version could have:
- One city
- A limited number of clubs
- Apartments/houses
- Cars
- Training centre
- Stadium
- Basic activities
- Player Career matches
- Contracts and salaries
- Reputation system
- Basic coaching career after retirement
Then expand it over time.
Why I think this could be special
FC already has the football.
What Player Career is missing is the life around the football.
Football isn't only the 90 minutes on the pitch.
It's training, teammates, pressure, money, contracts, travelling, reputation, success, failure and the choices you make every day.
Football Life Simulator could turn Player Career from a mode you play into a career you actually live.
It could even become a stand alone game.
