When Will This Injustice End?
This question comes from two years of frustration and suffering since I started playing FIFA. The truth is that forcing players in the Middle East, particularly in Egypt, to compete against players connected to European servers is an obvious injustice.
After doing some basic research into ping times in countries such as Italy and France, I found that players there can experience ping as low as 5–20 ms, while in Egypt, ping can reach 50 ms before a match even begins and rise to 100 ms or more during gameplay.
As a result, an Egyptian player competing with a ping of 50–70 ms against an opponent enjoying 5–20 ms because of their proximity to a European server faces a significant difference in network response time. This directly affects the gaming experience, including responsiveness, input registration, and the ability to react quickly during matches.
To be clear, I am Egyptian, and my internet speed reaches 31 Mbps. My problem is not my internet speed within Egypt; it is the quality of my connection to European servers.
EA could address this problem by providing dedicated Middle Eastern servers. However, it seems that the company is more interested in announcing sales figures than addressing the suffering of players in this region.
The truth is that I am seriously considering quitting this game because of its negative impact on my mental and emotional well-being, as well as my son's.
Yesterday, my son was winning a match when his ping suddenly exceeded 1,000 ms, and he ended up losing. He was devastated and cried. For once, I could not even find the right words to comfort him, as I have tried to do on so many previous occasions.
There is another frustrating issue: I can spend nearly an hour trying to find an opponent from Egypt or elsewhere in the Middle East. I have tried everything imaginable with my internet service provider to achieve a stable, low-ping connection that would allow me to enjoy the game.
And ping is not the only problem. I have attached screenshots showing examples of the opponents I regularly face. Some of them have been playing since 2019, while I only started playing in 2026. Such a substantial difference in experience is certainly not going to help me develop my skills when I am constantly competing against much more experienced players. Instead, it adds to my frustration and stress, to the point where the experience affects my breathing and contributes to feelings of depression.
EA has the ability to address these problems if it genuinely wants to improve the experience for players in the Middle East. Dedicated regional servers, fairer matchmaking, and a more balanced competitive environment would make a meaningful difference.
We are paying customers. We deserve a fair opportunity to compete, a stable connection, and a gaming experience that brings enjoyment rather than frustration and distress.
How much longer must players in the Middle East endure this situation? How much longer will EA ignore these concerns while continuing to take our money?
Thank you, EA, for the injustice and frustration we receive in return for the money we spend on your game.
