Title: FC 27 Needs Better Foot Planting and Leg Synchronization
Hello Electronic Arts,
I want to continue giving feedback because I genuinely believe FC 27 has the potential to become one of the most realistic football games you have ever made.
First, I want to praise the game.
The atmosphere is excellent. The graphics are excellent. The match presentation feels much more like a real football match. The movement has improved considerably, the players have more weight, and the physical contact between players is one of the best parts of the game.
I have noticed some very good body-contact animations, and although I would love to see even more variations in the future, the physicality itself is already looking very realistic.
But there is one fundamental problem that is still preventing me from buying the game:
FOOT PLANTING AND LEG SYNCHRONIZATION.
A football player lives through his legs. Running, accelerating, stopping, changing direction, controlling the ball, crossing and shooting all depend on the correct movement of the legs.
This is why I believe this is not a small visual issue. It is fundamental to football.
I have been playing the free FC 27 Lite version specifically to observe this carefully, and I keep seeing the same problem in replays.
Please take a player running toward the ball and watch the replay very closely.
You can sometimes see:
Right foot → left foot → right foot → left foot
and then, when the next step should naturally be with the right or left foot, the animation suddenly changes and the player appears to use the same leg again or skips the necessary foot plant.
Sometimes the player seems to slide over the grass because the animation is being shortened or interrupted in order to make the player perform the next action.
This becomes especially obvious when a player is running toward a ball and another player is marking them.
It looks like the game sometimes needs the player to reach the ball and perform the action, so instead of allowing the complete physical movement to happen naturally, part of the leg animation is cut or replaced.
The result is a player who appears to float or slide instead of properly planting the foot.
And I want to be very clear:
I would rather MISS THE BALL than have the game break the player's movement to help me reach it.
If the ball is too far away, the player should take a longer step.
If the ball is closer, the player should take a shorter step.
If the player needs to adjust his body before crossing, shooting or controlling the ball, the animation should show that adjustment.
If there isn't enough time to complete the movement, then the player should fail to reach the ball.
That would be more realistic.
I recently watched another football game from a competitor, and I noticed something that I believe is very important. That game also has its own sliding and animation problems, but it seems to have more contextual variations in the player's steps depending on the distance and position of the ball.
For example, when the ball is slightly farther away from the player's body, the player can make an adjusted step with the side of the foot to reach it.
This is the type of contextual foot movement I would like to see in FC.
FC 27 already has many excellent animations. That's why I don't believe the solution is simply adding hundreds of new animations.
I believe the problem may be how the animations are being selected, blended or synchronized with the player's speed, position and the ball.
Maybe some older animations are interfering with newer ones. Maybe certain transitions are being interrupted. Maybe the system is prioritizing the next gameplay action over completing the physical movement.
I don't know exactly how the technology works internally, so I'm not claiming that this is definitely the cause.
I'm describing what I can clearly see as a player.
And it happens very frequently in replays.
Watch a player running toward a cross.
Watch a player running toward a shot.
Watch a player trying to control a rebound.
Watch a player running while being pressured by a defender.
Watch the legs frame by frame.
You will sometimes see the player running correctly and naturally, and then suddenly the animation skips a step, repeats the same leg, changes the foot that should be planted, or creates a small sliding movement so that the player can complete the action.
That is the part I really want EA to investigate.
Because everything else is becoming very good.
The speed of the game is much better after the update.
The physical contact is much better.
The atmosphere is excellent.
The graphics are excellent.
The weight of the players feels much better.
The overall football experience is much better.
I would even say that the game has improved around 70% compared with my first experience.
But then I watch a replay and see the player's legs becoming desynchronized, and suddenly the realism disappears.
For me, this is much more important than small issues such as the ball occasionally looking slightly connected to the player's foot.
I don't really care about that.
I care about the PLAYER'S BODY.
The legs need to obey the physical sequence of movement.
If the player is running:
right → left → right → left
the next step shouldn't suddenly become:
right → right
just because the game needs to make the player reach the ball.
Please investigate the foot planting, animation transitions, leg synchronization and contextual stepping very carefully.
I still have not purchased FC 27 because of this issue. I am continuing to play the free Lite version and observing the gameplay.
I really like EA and I really like FC.
I don't want to stop playing this game.
But I will continue talking about this issue because I genuinely believe it is one of the fundamental elements of football gameplay.
If EA fixes this, I believe FC 27 will become much more immersive.
The game already has the atmosphere, graphics, physicality and many of the animations necessary to create a fantastic football experience.
Now the legs need to consistently connect all of those movements together.
Please watch the replays.
Especially when a player is running toward the ball while being pressured by another player.
Look at the feet.
Look at the foot planting.
Look at the transition between each step.
I believe this is one of the most important areas FC 27 can improve.
Thank you for listening to the community.
