Clubs: Why are console players still capped at 60 FPS while PC can run 120+?

Why are console players still capped at 60 FPS while PC can run 120+?

I raised this same issue during FC 26, and somehow we are now in FC 27 with the exact same problem.

Console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are still playing at 60 FPS, while PC players can run FC 27 at 120 FPS and, depending on their hardware and settings, potentially considerably higher.

Why is this still considered acceptable in a cross-platform competitive mode like Clubs?

Higher frame rates still provide smoother motion, more frequent visual updates, lower input-to-display latency and generally better responsiveness. In a game where tiny differences in timing matter for first touches, manual defending, jockeying, skill moves, tackling and passing, that matters.

And in Clubs, the issue can be amplified even further when a human player using PC is controlling Any. You have one player benefiting from a substantially higher frame rate while controlling nearly an entire team against players locked to 60 FPS on console.

We talked about this during FC 26. We asked why there was no 120 FPS performance mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. We asked why console players cannot choose PS5 + Xbox-only crossplay. We asked why EA appears concerned with maintaining parity between the console platforms while ignoring the much larger performance difference that can exist between console and PC.

Now FC 27 is here, and nothing appears to have changed.

These consoles have been on the market for years. Many competitive games already offer 120 Hz performance modes. EA themselves officially advertise PC specifications for FC 27 targeting 120 FPS gameplay.

So why can't current-generation consoles have a 120 FPS performance option?

At minimum, Clubs should offer one of the following:

A 120 FPS performance mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

A console-only crossplay option allowing PlayStation and Xbox players to play together without PC.

Or matchmaking options that take major platform/performance differences into account.

Crossplay is great when it expands the player pool, but crossplay should not mean ignoring hardware disparities that can affect responsiveness in competitive gameplay.

This was an issue in FC 26. It is still an issue in FC 27.

Can somebody from EA please explain why console gameplay is still limited to 60 FPS while PC players in the exact same Clubs matchmaking ecosystem can play at 120 FPS or higher?

And more importantly: are there actually any plans to bring 120 FPS gameplay to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S?

And it's fair that their game crashes every 3 minutes? You have NO IDEA how many losses you get on PC because the game crashes. No idea. I used to be on PC and it's unplayable. And it has been for years.

Completely agree with this take. It's diabolical the advantage that PC players have on Clubs. They're playing a different game altogether. Such an unfair competitive landscape that needs to be addressed.
