What's the point in positioning options in drop matches

I am a right back, trying to play the fullback position in a drop in game, yet, for whatever reason, the game decided to put me up front? What's the point in even having the option to pick if you're just going to put me anywhere? Please immediately address this or at least change back to how the old FIFA was where you could generally pick your position, so at least that way everyone can play exactly where they want to play.
