Attacking runs

Let me be honest. Based on the current state of attacking AI, it genuinely feels as if the team responsible for player movement has very little understanding of how modern football is actually played.Could someone please explain why a player assigned the False 9+ role consistently positions himself on the shoulder of the last defender as if he's a traditional poacher? The entire purpose of a false nine is to drop into deeper areas, receive the ball between the lines, link up play, and create space for other attackers. Yet in-game, that behavior is practically nonexistent. What's even more confusing is that triggering runs LB, RB, or even both buttons does nothing to address the issue. The attacking movement remains static and predictable regardless of the tactical instructions used.Football attacks are built around players identifying and exploiting empty pockets of space between defenders. Intelligent movement off the ball is what creates opportunities, unpredictability, and variety in attacking play. Instead, attackers often make the same runs, occupy the same spaces, and produce the same patterns over and over again. Is that the intended design philosophy? Are players supposed to score the same types of goals and execute the same attacking sequences every match? Because if that's the objective, it raises a fair question: why release a new edition at all instead of simply selling another roster update and calling it a patch? At some point, one would expect the "next-generation" version to actually demonstrate some next-generation intelligence. Unfortunately, when it comes to attacking movement, the AI still feels several steps behind the game it is trying to simulate.Rather than introducing more cosmetic features, please focus on fixing the fundamentals. Improve attacking positioning, off-the-ball intelligence, spatial awareness, and role authenticity. Asking a False 9 to behave like a False 9 should not be a revolutionary concept in a football game. For a feature that has supposedly evolved across multiple releases, the current attacking movement feels less like advanced football AI and more like players following the same script they were given years ago. That's not innovation; that's repetition with a new price tag.

that’s a very valuable advice all you have to do is be smart use it and I hope so

  • I agree completely with this. I'm currently using false 9, short passing in an attempt to get my attackers to position themselves away from defenders and nothing seems to work. I've noticed that in the attacking 3rd, my attackers are pushed right up against defenders or even offside.

My suggestion is to have some kind of option that changes the timing of attacking movement. I'd say I'm an average player so I often need to dribble with a midfielder for a second or two to get clear of a defender before I have an open pass into an attacker. My attackers have already made their run in that time and are offside when I'm in a position to pass to them. The whole thing feels out of sync.

Having an option to adjust the timing would allow players to choose what works best for them based on their playstyle.
