That’s how the game’s AI mechanism works: if a high-rated opposing player is running toward your goal, it doesn't matter if you switch to a defender—the AI blocks them, turns them in a different direction, or stops them from chasing the ball or challenging the attacker. Unfortunately, that’s just how it’s designed, and usually, you end up on the losing side in these matches—at least, that’s my opinion. I don't understand the goalkeepers either; for instance, in a 1v1 situation, why can't I drag the keeper in a specific direction to force a dive or something? You can't really control them; you can basically just run them out and back. As for passing, the ball goes where the AI wants it to go. If it wants the pass to succeed, it places it perfectly, and your player automatically makes the right run. If it doesn't want it to work, it just lets the opposing defenders catch up; your player won't sprint for the opening, and the pass won't go where you aimed it. I think this is the AI's "equalizer" mechanism—that’s my take on it. And don't get me started on headers: you might be struggling in a match against a much weaker, slower team, and the game just hands them a free header. My defender doesn't even jump; he acts surprised and just lets the opponent head the ball. That "surprised" animation—where keepers and defenders look stunned—is something that shouldn't have been implemented; in my opinion, it’s the cause of many errors. Aerial duels in Division Rivals play out in a pretty weird way; a lot of things need fixing. It would be great if they listened to feedback and actually tried to address these issues.
