[Feedback thread] Gameplay Improvements Sept 2026 — We Want Your Thoughts!

Restarting this discussion thread. I'll start:

  1. Gameplans don't work and have actively made H2H poorer - attacking or defensive gameplans simply puts a huge gap between your defensive and attacking lines. Previous 'Attacking/Defensive' option at least did what you want.
  2. Stamina drain is making the H2H experience dreadful. After 70 minutes in-game your supposedly elite 126OVR players are barely able to get above walking pace. Watching them get chased by equally slow defenders reminds me of the 1980s football sims we used to play on 8-bit computers.
  3. Passing, particularly through-ball, is completely random - sometimes it goes where you expect, sometimes the player controls it, sometimes not.
  4. A defender making a tackle will NEVER come away with the ball. They'll make the tackle, but the attacker will retain possession while your defender stands looking the wrong way.
  5. Goalkeepers, even high OVR goalkeepers with supposedly top-level ability will ALWAYS push a save directly to an opponent. If you're in a tight spot, just hit shoot and the ball will rebound to another forward.
  6. If you're winning, towards the end of the game when players are unable to go anything above snail-pace, whatever you do DO NOT WIN A CORNER. If you do, and the defence wins the 1st header, the opponent will have 80 yards of free pitch and 3 defenders standing on the 18-yard line waiting (but not, most importantly. anticipating or defending)
  7. Football throughout the world, in real life and in games, has had 5 subs since forever. This game still has 3. Still.
  8. Players who use a tablet rather than a phone to play will see 30% less of the playing surface. This has been raised numerous times over the years, and still nothing has been done. This is not difficult to fix.
  9. Overall, the Sept 2026 update has made H2H far worse to play, far less enjoyable, far less controllable and far less fun. Parts that did work, now don't, and the update has introduced more problems than it's solved. And issues that have been raised for years, like 5 subs, are still completely disregarded.

  • Passing is poor, particularly one-touch. I get that its because you're trying to get people to invest to get players with good passing as a playstyle, but any player at the elite level can complete rapid, one-touch passes in tight spaces. You've lowered the basic ability of all other players to try to shoehorn in a playstyle that doesn't actually exist in the real world, at least not to the level of disparity where players without it are unable to control and pass a ball well in all situations.

In fact, this call to proceed with playstyles is having a really negative impact on the overall game. If a player in real-life is good at finishing for example, it doesn't mean that all others in the team are terrible, but this is what you're creating in this sim. It's poor and indicates a real lack of understanding of the game in the real world.

Hi there. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your honest thoughts and suggestions. I'll make sure to bundle this up and pass it along to the team for review.

Thanks again for sharing your suggestions!

  • Hear, hear! I couldn’t agree more. Many of us have raised these issues before and I really appreciate jmsandersonn putting it all down in one place in a concise format. These are the changes/improvements EA should be laser-focused on. I’d gladly forego a month (or more!)  of new events simply to have these basic playability issues addressed. Conversely, no amount of new cards is enticing enough to keep me interested in this game if these items aren’t addressed.

The game is in crisis at the moment. It’s never been less playable or less fun and users are VERY frustrated. Under these conditions we need EA to communicate more proactively. We need them to acknowledge this list and COMMIT to addressing them. Given how badly the update has bombed there’s naturally a lot less trust and patience within the community toward EA. So, absent an acknowledgment of these issues and a public commitment to fix them, there’s very little reason for us to stick around and simply assume they’ll get fixed to our satisfaction. To the contrary, recent events suggest that things will more likely get worse, not better.

Currently, we have ZERO information about what EA is doing. No commitments. No timelines. Nothing. Why should users remain on board an FCM vessel that’s taking on water if we can’t see or hear the captain doing anything to save the ship?
