I’m trying to be constructive.
we genuinely love your game but we hate being taken for fools.
i think as players we have to understand EA is a commercial entity, it has to make money or it (and the game) would not exist. I don’t really understand the f2p point of view too much. If you don’t pay for the game then it has to be funded by ads. If it’s funded by ads then quite how good is it going to be? I think if you are playing the game f2p then you have to accept some premium content is always going to be out of your reach.
I am pretty sure most f2p understand and accept that.
in the past that might be based on f2p getting 2-3 top rated players per event and p2w getting as many as they wanted to pay for.
I think the problem with the present settings of the draft system and phase 2 exchanges is modest p2w’s and f2p’s have been left with only a pack luck chance of getting any card higher than 115. If most top teams had mostly 115’s at the start then the whole set of events since the start of the draft system have been a bar to progression, to get certainty of a 117 you have to spend £100/$100, so to get a whole team is a grand….think about it. A grand, to get top resource in a game!!
I think, one unintended consequence of the way the TOTY was set up is that you can progress (in theory) by getting a 116, but if you have an icon 115 then you aren’t going to swap those players out for a weaker 116 card. So the ‘upgrade’ becomes another source of massive annoyance.
Well pointed out DBomb36
There is also a massive misconception about the drafts. The drafts isnt the issue, the Phase 2 Tokens conversion rate is, and there is a clear lack of choice in drafts on Pool A players, however there is a choice in exchanges, as you pointed out at an extraorbitant cost.
Players need to remember that Drafts replaced the daily packs and Phase 2 Tokens replaced the shards.
Imagine if in the Shards era, players only got 5 shards per eligible card instead of the past 10-120 for mid-tier cards, let that sink in....
One of the content creators (FHS) has explained it quite well on his recent YouTube video ( /watch?v=bmaXOuYNxKI).

I agree dzrtr. I don’t think massive changes are necessarily required, except these phase 2 tokens. It makes things far less unfair if the gaps between the tokens you get for handing in players (113-116 now) are increased. Then picking a 116-117 that you actually want becomes less impossible, and there will be less frustration all around.

Pretty much. Most players hate drafts for a wrong reasons as they dont seem to fully understand the changes. Once P2T gets a proper overhaul with fair cost to reward ratio, it will be fine imo. Until then, it will be mediocre resource exchange process.

dzrtr I respect your perspective and your reasoning, but I can’t quite make sense of why you are cheerleading a revised draft system (and implying those of us who don’t like it just don’t understand it) when neither you, nor EA, have made the case for why the shard system was broken or why the draft system can EVER be an improvement. As I’ve said elsewhere, the threshold question here shouldn’t be whether the draft system can be made less bad than its current crappy state. It should be whether it can be made BETTER than the shard system (which no users were asking to ditch). I would honestly like to hear you (or, better yet, EA) lay out a reasoned explanation for how (specifically) a revised draft system will ever be an improvement (in terms of value/certainty) for users — especially F2Pers. My supposition all along (and I think all the current evidence supports it) is that the draft system was a deliberate effort by EA to claw back value from users and place it behind a paywall. And I think those who support the draft system have a LOT of work to do to build a convincing argument that this conclusion is wrong and that the draft system can be made to deliver equivalent value to the shard system.
