I made the worst decision of even trying manager mode. Boy what is that thing? With the same tactics which got me to 40 stars last season is getting me nowhere. I'd gotten to 24 stars fell down to 4 ...

The best thing with manager mode is to let it play in the background and pay no real attention to the result ... yes it will largely follow OVR, but the AI is not great, and weird stuff is the result.
If you really like the manager mode type gameplay, then check out EA FC Tactical - by all reports, it is like manager mode, but your tactical changes actually make a difference ;)
