It’s not just you. These are merely the published odds — and they suck! I’ve now reached a Pool A drawing at least 10 times and only once have I pulled a card higher than the minimum, and I’ve NEVER gotten the highest-rated card available. One of my league mates just used 210 draft vouchers the other day and got three consecutive Courtois. He’s mad as hell, but it’s exactly how EA has engineered the game to try and coerce users into spending more.
I don’t know about you, but I resent being strong-armed and I made up my mind soon after they instituted the drafts that they wouldn’t see another nickel from me so long as they engaged in these tactics. I’m primarily F2P, but there was a time when I would splash a few bucks for a star pass or something. That time is over for me because the value just isn’t there and I refuse to encourage exploitative tactics. And that’s what this new system of crap draft “pack odds” and obscenely expensive shard trade-ins is. I’ve played FCM off and on for years, and the value proposition (both for time and money) has NEVER been worse than it is right now. I run a league and my commitment to those guys is the only reason I’ve haven’t rage quit about 10 times in these last few months. At least I can come in here and see that I’m not alone and I keep hoping against hope that EA wises up and addresses our concerns before everyone just heads for the exits. As it stands, every day I’m just one “straw that breaks the camel’s back” away from deleting the app for good.
Some folks have posted reasonable suggestions to tweak the voucher system — like deferring a lower-rated Pool A player at 70 drafts and in order to receive a guaranteed top-rated card at 100, but these imminently reasonable proposals have been totally ignored by EA… because they’re just plain greedy. It would appear that so long as the whales are willing to keep spending and the rest of us don’t leave en masse EA will just keep abusing us (because they can).
