Hate to say it, but H2H lag/stuttering has been going on pretty much forever and EA doesn’t seem to care about fixing it. IF they respond to these complaints (which is rare) they will inevitably blame it on poor user internet service/connection and basically wash their hands of it. Like so many aspects of this game, they don’t seem to care that the user experience is poor so long as folks keep spending to get new cards.
And that’s frustrating because at least some of the lag problem is almost certainly within EA’s power to address if they would place greater limits on the geographic distance over which matches are made (as greater distance between users and the host server results in higher ping and, therefore, slower responsiveness to user inputs). For example, in a typical H2H match you might find (as I frequently do) one of your players running in a direction OPPOSITE to the one you’re indicating with your joystick and this is because the “autoplay” kicks in when there is sufficient delay between your inputs them reaching the host server. It’s an absolutely maddening state of affairs, as the very existence of “autoplay” is an indicator that EA knows lag is a persistent issue and they would rather have us “arm wrestle” autoplay for control over our players rather than limit matchmaking only to opponents within a reasonable geographic distance.
I, for one, would just as soon wait a minute (or longer) for a match rather than experience the constant frustration of laggy gameplay (especially in H2H where it kills the FUN!), but EA seems totally focused on generating new and gimmicky content around new cards instead of addressing fundamental issues like lag and broken game mechanics. Short of a mass exodus of users I don’t know what is going to change this, as I (and others) have repeatedly raised these issues in surveys and in the forums and been met with zero response from EA. Even so, glad to see you took the time to post and encourage you to keep raising the issue!
