Recent severe degradation in gameplay

I think there might be some server traffic issues - i always have lag because of where I am, but lately i have also been struggling to match anyone in PvP modes, with the timers just running out.

i have raised it with the team, I will report back if they mention anything other than traffic 👍

Thanks for the reply. Whatever it is the gameplay has become a complete shambles. Doesn’t seem to be affecting my opponents though. For example, I just completed this VSA match (see below) against a pretty even opponent and it wasn’t even close. I had numerous “good” chances that were an absolute mess — players taking bad touches, moving sluggishly and/or making inexplicably bad passes or shots. This was not happening 48 hours ago when I was at +10 FC Champions. Now I’m struggling to win anything. 😔😡

For what it’s worth, I’ve cleared my cache and checked my internet and everything is running as normal.

Still happening today. All players sluggish. Lost the match because a maxed 125 OVR player inexplicably let the ball run right past him. Nothing I could do except watch on helplessly

Still happening today. Again. Just had a fully maxed 126 OVR Hazard trap the ball in an VSA match only to then come to a sudden stop (instead of shooting as I had directed him). A moment later time expired. This glitch of my player failing to execute my input cost me the win.

These instances of inexplicably poor player performance are happening in EVERY VSA match (including league tournaments). Others in my league are reporting the same. Can someone from EA please clarify/confirm whether changes were made (e.g., a massive player nerf?) that may have resulted in this sudden change in performance?

Ok - so the thing is - VSA is not really a direct PvP mode, it is played entirely on your device against their AI controlled defence, with only the scores are transmitted through to each other.

This is different to H2H, where you are directly playing the player controlled team, with every input from each of you bouncing back and forth from the servers - in h2h distance and congestion lag is a killer - it’s why I can’t play it at all (being thousands of kilometres from the nearest server and relying on Australia’s decidedly mid data network).

So, if you are having these issues of sluggishness and poor button response on VSA, that points to something going on with the processing capacity or touch responsiveness of your device … the best thing for that is to force close the app, clear the games cache if you are on android, restart the device, fire up the game and have another crack.

if Android you will need to do that regularly (at least once a week, if you are playing a couple of sessions a day, I would say once each day) to ensure you don’t get bogged down by the device cache.

with regard to anything being changed - nope, nothing has changed recently

I had already cleared my cache to no avail. I even offloaded some data from my iPad. None of which worked. And then, suddenly, today I log on and it appears to be back to normal. Players move smoothly again in VSA. Poor touches and bad passes/shots are back to where they were (at acceptable levels). It’s shocking really how night and day it is, and I have no earthly idea what could have possibly changed overnight. 🤷‍♂️

Just to paint the picture of how stark the change is/was… Today I’ve won 5 straight VSA matches, whereas I’d failed to win 9 of my previous 10. The gameplay experience could not be more different.
