Star shield

The new update of Division Rivals introduces Star Shield used to protect the player from losing a star when they lose a match. However, when I lose, the star shield is not applied and I still get deducted a star. Can someone please answer why? Thank you (The picture showing match history says that I didn't lose a star because I did lose but I completed the points bar)
