Tips on getting player

Try getting Donnarumma for 300 phase 2 tokens and then exchanging him for his UTOTY card. That is, if you haven't spent any phase 2 tokens as it's really hard to collect.

To be frank, it’s virtually impossible to land him with any certainty — not unless you spend a LOT of $$$.

I’m F2P and I’ve used 150 drafts (some earned, some purchased with earned gems) and if I cashed in every TOTY and TOTYHM I’ve won with those 150 drafts I’d still have only 280 Phase 2 tokens. That’s not even enough to get a 116 (let alone Mbappe) lol! And the 280 includes 50 that would come from cashing in the only 116 I’ve won (a Pedri). So, it would be idiotic of me to do the exchange. And mind you, I’ve used every exchange available, having turned all of my <113 TOTY players into Extra Time tokens in order to play the daily 113-115 TOTY exchange. Thus, I’ve done everything in my power to maximize my Phase 2 Tokens to this point and I’m not even remotely close to being able to win an Mbappe.

So the bottom line is unavoidable: TOTY provides EXTREMELY poor odds (and just about ZERO certainty) of landing a specific player to improve your team. Unless you are a “whale” who can afford to drop hundreds of dollars on FCM, then getting a card like Mbappe is pure luck and the odds (of that “luck” coming through) are vanishingly small. I landed my one and only Pool A player (the aforementioned Pedri) on my 100th draft — in other words, only after I was guaranteed to receive a Pool A player. So, I would likely have to play at least three times as many drafts as the 150 I’ve already used in order to (more than) triple my bank of 280 Phase 2 tokens and reach the 900 required to grab Mbappe. That’s 300 more drafts at the base rate of 200 FC Points each for a total 60k FC Points. The base rate of exchange in the store is $1 = 100 FCP, so quick math puts my price tag at $600. I could cut that in half if I spread my purchases of FCP out over six days and use the Daily $100/10k FCP that gets you a “bonus” 10k FCP (effectively doubling your purchasing power). But that’s STILL $300 to accumulate the 620 additional Phase 2 tokens I need to claim Mbappe. And, OK, maybe I could manage to whittle that number down a little more by taking advantage of some of the daily voucher exchange deals, but the point is still the same — I’d wind up spending at least a couple hundred dollars to own ONE card that will be obsolete in a matter of months!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have hundreds of dollars to throw at this game month after month. I have kids, pets, a mortgage, and bills to pay and FCM has become an increasingly high-priced CASINO where the odds just seem to get worse and worse. At least with the shard system you had some certainty that a month of grinding (or $100, if you have it to spend) would GUARANTEE you a couple of prized players, but the TOTY draft system and the associated exchanges (which are all really, really poor) destroyed this and replaced it with a FAR, FAR POORER VALUE for the user’s money and/or time.

I’m sorry I don’t have better news in response to your Mbappe question, but I’m afraid these are the facts (as I understand them) and I’d hate to see anyone wasting their time and/or money chasing Mbappe (or any card) without working through the numbers and understanding what the underlying odds/costs might be. Hope this was helpful to you.

Why haven't you exchanged 116 ovr TOTY Pedri for UTOTY or are you saying you have opened 100 UTOTY drafts? For me UTOTY drafts look scam and I haven't opened a single draft. Are UTOTY drafts worth opening? Nowadays I can manage to open only 1 or 2 drafts daily as grinding gems as F2P is really hard.

Pray. That's what you can do in the current system. No point trying anymore in this game. Right now the game's all about who can spend the max and get all the flashy cards. And all these flashy cards of now are 'outdated' in 2 months time. So you'll be forced to get the new cards. And RN it's impossible to get a player you want unless you're lucky so you can't upgrade your team based on what positions you need to improve rather the player the system gives you. It's a W for EA if you think. They can generate more revenue this way. F2p doesn't necessarily generate any revenue for EA except the numbers. I recently saw a video of a dude spending around 45k+ FC points just for essien, Ruben dias and the box zlatan. So it's up to us whether we want to continue playing or leave. It's dumb to continue playing with the hope EA is gonna make things better cuz clearly they won't. For me, i've opened around 150 drafts and pulled a single 116 Yamal. That's 450k gems worth of packs for a single 116. If that's the return for my 300-400k gems I just don't want to play anymore. 

Yes, I will probably convert the Pedri to UTOTY, but only at the very end just in case I luck into getting a TOTY that better meets my squad needs.

I’m the same as you with UTOTY drafts — not worth it! Not going to spend 4,500 gems for a draft with low odds and with TOTAL UNCERTAINTY as to what player I’d get even if I got lucky.

I’ve stacked up nearly 200k gems and I’m just going to sit on them. No point in chasing long odds with all these current draft events when it takes 100 drafts to guarantee a Pool A player. If they don’t fix the draft odds and/or exchange system with the next big event then I’ll just quit. There’s just no point to grinding anymore.
