@gtvv86 yep - it is simple - 3 main causes of lag are:
distance from the server (of you or your opponent)
traffic between you and the server
traffic on the server
or a combination of the above.
sometimes it is great, sometimes it sucks, but if like me you live a looooong way from the nearest server then h2h always sucks.
You could also have a device cache issue if you are on Android - clear that sucker before each gameplay session and you might find that it improves (although cache issues more often cause crashes, rather than lag)

Your explanation sounds very legit, but I find it strange that this started all of a sudden a few days ago.
- @gtvv86 The cache thing happens all of a sudden, for some people weeks after starting playing, for others months, but once it starts it just continues to happen unless you clear the cache regularly.
Other lag is almost entirely the result of those three things above … it can also be your device having a conniption, but usually that would cause other stuff to not work properly as well.
If you have access to another device then you can trouble shoot on that, or you can trouble shoot on another network and another device, but generally h2h is distance and/or traffic related and there is not much you can do about that (unless move house to be next door to the server and play only in the middle of the night 🫣)
