FIFA 15 won't start anymore

FIFA 15 on PC suddenly won't start anymore, I have reinstalled the game, it can't repair and I have the product code for my game. When I open up FIFA 15 and press play the game starts loading for one second and then it crashes. EA Support couldn't help so they sent me here, what should I do and does anyone have the same problem?

  • I had the same problem, so here I go with what I did to solve this:

Like kurtkorv said, I think everything is on Windows Defender.
So, the first thing is to check Windows Defender on "Protection History." For some reason, it detects "dbdata.dll" in the FIFA 15 folder as a virus. If you can restore that file, do it. If for some reason you can't (as was my case), delete the game and reinstall it. (I restarted my PC just in case.)

Then, go to Microsoft Defender again, go to "Threat Protection settings," then go to "Exclusions," and there select the folder where you installed FIFA.

After I did that, I started the game, and it looked like it crashed again, but I left it for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, and out of nowhere, it started the game smoothly.

    Hope it helps, folks.

Yes, it's ok to proceed. If you're asked to give permissions for the EA app or an EA game to make changes to your device, you can go ahead and allow it. Just make sure it's always being installed directly from the EA app. If you ever have any other questions, feel free to ask!

So does this mean it is a real virus? Windows defender marked it for me as: VirTool:Win32/VMProtect.

C:\Program Files\EA Games\FIFA 15\dbdata.dll is marked as virus but you say it is okay to proceed?

    Thanks,

    Hey there,

Do you see any error messages when the game crashes?

Yes, I also had this problem. I updated my Nvidia drivers and repaired the game on the EA app. I had to disable my virus protection on windows in order to repair the game. After doing this it works.
