Career player forced to retire even on a contract

So madden broke my career since the new update. I ended my 3rd season, and I opted for free agency. I signed a 1 yr deal with the bears and everything changed to the bears. So depth chart, my player image etc. The only option to advance was "skip to preseason", which I did. Then of all a sudden once that loaded, I was a free agent that was forced to retire. So now im sitting at the franchise menu with the only option to me is to retire. Im off the depth chart and everything else. nothing like grinding a player just for your game to screw it up.
