Madden 24 PC controller not working (works with all other games)

Basically the title. Is there a way to fix this that I'm unaware of? The controller works with every game I own, including previous iterations of Madden, so it's definitely a M24 issue.

also having this issue, have tried not having steam running and the game still doesn't register any controller inputs
