Came here to talk about the same thing and found this thread. Agree with the poster above...I've tried everything...I can assure you, I'm a tech addict who has plenty of horsepower and I smoothly run SUPPOSEDLY much more demanding games than Madden in terms of requirements on paper....but this game has made my $400 CPU run so hot due to the high usage that I had to get under the hood and replace the thermal paste burning and crusting out. I caught that in pretty timely fashion and knew better than to ignore the warning signs, but still...what if I didn't know what I was doing? A lot of people build PCs or have someone else do it and aren't as tech savvy. They may not even think to look at temp/usage etc.
I will say, I have since discovered a few things that help to get the game using the GPU more. For some reason, it now has made the graphics quality drop significantly when running in full screen mode, which seems to be the only way to make it utilize the GPU. It looks grainy now, but I guess I just take whatever win I can get in terms of performance. Set app settings for maximum performance, set openGL rendering via NVIDIA settings to use the GPU, lock the frame rate settings in game to match your tech's capabilities - don't do auto or unlimited unless it somehow works better for you... But the game still can be really slow with lots of input lag in H2H or anything that involves another person online. I've even noticed it's WORSE with other PC users, haha. You'd think cross play was an issue, but it's actually the one thing that can make the game playable for PC users. It's ridiculous to spend $70 on a game and this is still completely unaddressed like they don't even care how bad they've ripped us off.
I really hope this gets fixed, but the way things are going I am highly skeptical. I guess next year I just get the xbox version if I even play at all. I am tempted to quit this year. I enjoy the game otherwise but it's pretty difficult to have the patience for a terribly slow, unresponsive game to get fixed.
