(PS4) Can't add Online Friends Through Friends Portal

My Madden 24 that I downloaded does not have a friends portal. Pressing R3 does literally nothing. I cannot add friends, and when someone sends me a friend request, it does not appear anywhere. More details below:

-I am signed into my EA account

-I am signed into the Playstation Network

-My Madden 24 and my PS4 both have the latest updates

-I've tried deleting my Madden and redownloading it (did not work)

-Ive tried creating a new EA account (did not work)

-Ive tried creating a case with EA help (no one even bothered to read my email, they just kept suggesting I access the friends portal, which I kept saying is impossible in my copy of Madden)

So far I have tried to get a refund from Sony but they said no. I tried to get a refund from EA and they didn't help. It is very frustrating to get zero help from EA so far after I spent $70 on their game, just for it to not perform as advertised. Playing with online friends is literally the only reason I bought it.  I'd like this fixed so I can be able to play the game I bought. Thank you.

    Hey there!


    It's been a minute since this was opened and discussed. We will wrap this thread up and lock it down as resolved.

    Players on old-gem consoles will not have the Social Window in the game. Players will need to use the console's invite system that is outside of the game. This issue was reviewed and tested and working as intended.


    If you have any new issues or something else to report, feel free to start a new thread or join an existing one so we can keep everything organized.

    my brother has an xbox series S and i have ps5 and can add him from the EA connect portal but he doesn't even see it on his console, he doesn't even have the option to open the EA connect portal with R3 button

    So from reading the whole thread, one person has to download the friends version in order to play.  So if you have multiple friends on different gens....good luck to you and your SOL.  For those who only have 1 or 2 friends and have to download the others version...all progress you made is lost for the different version.  So basically you can play Quick play only cause all other versions of H2H you would start from scratch.  Well done EA.  Lets hope you guys dont screw up the College Game this bad.

    issue: not letting me play against friends but lets me play against random people I can’t go head to head with my friends or anything I can play with randoms but not my friends fix this please or I want a refund

    • Do you have cross-play enabled or disabled? tried btoh

    • If possible, do you have this issue with any other EA game? i do not

    cannot get the friends portal to show up. have tried every solutions in the book

    My brother is having the same issue it won’t pop up with the friends portal on madden 24 on ps5 he’s pushing r3 and is connected to madden servers. We tried linking and unlinking his account
