Something wrong with madden/EA servers for online play

There’s almost certainly something wrong with Madden/EA’s servers for online play

I test my multiplayer connection prior to entering online games and I get 0% packet loss, way more than enough up/down and low latency. As soon as I jump into an online game I get lag and the messages that either me or my opponent is experiencing network issues.

So I test my multiplayer connection mid game and lo and behold I am getting the same stats except now anywhere from 2-22% packet loss, typically 2-4%. Which unfortunately is enough to ruin the experience, causing intermittent lag every 2-5 seconds.

Some extra information, I would say about 50% of my games I have no lag and connection is seamless for the whole game, this can last anywhere from one game to multiple days with multiple games without issue. But far too often the opposite occurs for multiple hours or days where nearly every game I am experiencing game breaking lag that has cost me countless games and enjoyment over the years.

There does not appear to be any sort of pattern, I have tried so many different methods of resetting/restarting my equipment and experimented with different settings. Countless calls and visits from my ISP

Can anyone provide any insight on why connection is so terrible? This dates back as far as madden 12 when I first started playing online. Across multiple houses, providers and setups. Keep in mind that I have had next to no issues with any other games

Unfortunately I am stuck with a WiFi connection, I just don’t understand how it can be so perfect half the games and so bad the rest of the time. I know wired is the most reliable but it simply isn’t an option for everyone, myself included

I have run out of ideas, has anyone else experienced anything similar?

  • Hi there, @MattRaf20

I think your issue is being on a wireless connection. Is your router too far away to switch to a wire? If so, you may want to consider getting a powerline or MoCA adaptor. Those have been good solutions when a wired connection isn't possible.

  • Dude same. Madden is awesome this year I’m loving it but man that lag and desyncing is killing me. It’s been this way for at least 4 years now. Granted I don’t have the best internet connection but still every other game I play, and even other EA games for that matter, never kick me like madden does. My favorite game of all time (The Madden franchise in general) but please EA, do something about these servers. Please and thank you.

Being on a wireless connection is one of the most common reasons for lag and disconnects. Are you in the same situation?

  • I get the same issue OP describes, and I am NOT on wifi, and I have a very fast connection with solid equipment, and top of the line hardware. There are no excuses.

  • They know it’s their servers, too many people with the exact same problem.

The fact they’ve gone silent here with the generic reply’s / fixes proves that.

Ive got multiple emails from EA help stating they know it’s a server issue that’s being rectified, that was over a month ago.

It doubt it will be getting fixed and they’ll just roll the same * in different coloured glitter next year.
