Make sure the Xbox Live Gold subscription is active and reboot your console and router.
Retry then and you should be good to go.

This issue has been ongoing for over a week. We get a message “sign in to Xbox network (which we are) and the ea servers in order to access the online features of this title…” EA doesn’t seem to have help.
