Pass rushers don't shed blocks any longer in franchise
On PC via Steam. After a recent title update it is practically impossible to rush the passer in games in franchise offline. On sliders and settings I used before and was getting 3-7 sacks a game as the Broncos I now don't even get consistent pressure on the QB and can go multiple games without a sack. As soon as a rusher engages a lineman for blocking they seemingly become stuck to them and can't disengage or shed the block so the only way to get a sack pretty much is to get someone coming free on a rush.
It's particularly obvious in the trench battle mini-game. In the past this was one of the, if not the, easiest mini-games to shred through. After the update now putting all 2nd tier linemen in and trying both Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett for the drill I still can't get past people reliably on it. Half the time pass rush moves don't even seem to trigger when I input them. If this is user error and we have timing or something else that has changed it would be good to communicate this to the player base.
I did notice that DTs and edge rushers were all set to not have any pass rush traits equipped by default. So I "coached up" my team telling them to use pass rush moves appropriate for their style and it had no impact. Even moving the difficulty down to pro and turning AI pass blocking down to 0 seemed to have no impact. As it stands now I'm either stuck playing offense only in franchise or not choosing any defensive abilities that rely on sacks for an upgrade (or avoiding getting 0 for a downgrade), which kind of negates playing as a defensive guru HC.
