Allow Commissioners to Resume Games from a Saved Game State

It would be extremely helpful if EA allowed commissioners to restart a game at a specific point by entering the quarter, time remaining, score, and possession, and then resume play from there.

Right now, when a disconnect or desync happens, especially in the 2nd half, leagues are forced to either replay the game or manually recreate situations, which is not accurate and often leads to frustration and disputes.

Many online franchise leagues have detailed rules to handle disconnects, but without the ability to restore the game state, there is no truly fair solution.

A system where commissioners could:

- Set quarter and time remaining
- Set score
- Assign possession and field position
- Resume the game from that point

would completely solve most disconnect-related issues and improve the competitive integrity of online franchises.

This would be especially valuable for playoff games and streamed matchups, where disconnects can ruin the experience for both players and viewers.

Right now, leagues are doing their best to work around this, but having proper tools would make a huge difference.

    Completely agree with this TimmyT1232

One of the biggest frustrations in Online Franchise is that leagues have built extremely detailed disconnect rules over the years, yet commissioners still have no actual tools to fairly restore a game once something goes wrong.

The problem gets especially bad in the 2nd half. At that point, a full replay rarely reflects the original game anymore:

    - momentum has changed

    - adjustments have already been made

    - fatigue/injuries may have mattered

    - clock management situations are completely different

Even with honest users trying to do the right thing, replaying a game almost never recreates the same competitive environment.

A commissioner-controlled restore system would solve so many issues immediately.

    Being able to set:

    - quarter

    - time remaining

    - score

    - possession

    - field position

    - down & distance

and then resume from that exact situation would dramatically improve competitive integrity for Online Franchise leagues.

This would be huge for playoff games, streamed games, and long-running CFMs where people invest months into a franchise.

Right now commissioners are forced to act as referees without having the tools necessary to properly manage technical failures. Leagues do their best with custom rules, but there’s only so much you can do when the game itself can’t restore state after a disconnect.

This would genuinely be one of the most impactful quality-of-life additions EA could make for serious franchise communities.

TimmyT1232 You bring up some really solid points here, especially in slow-sim leagues where the admin side of things can make or break the whole experience. When league settings can be exploited, when game behavior starts feeling less authentic than competitive, and when commissioners have to police things manually that the game could handle better, I can see how that starts creating more friction than it should.

A lot of this really comes back to giving leagues better control and better tools inside the Franchise itself. There is definitely some value in having more flexibility there for slow-sim communities.

TimmyT1232 I have done these myself when I took over a league for someone. It was a pain, and then I started seeing more players mention it. Having an in-game tool like that would absolutely be a game changer for leagues.

Appreciate the response.  One thing I wanted to add is how leagues are currently handling this:

In many cases, we have to manually recreate the game by restarting, burning clock, matching the score, and trying to align possession before continuing.

It works as a workaround, but it’s not always accurate and can lead to disagreements between users.

Having an in-game tool for commissioners to set the game state directly would remove that guesswork and make things much more consistent across leagues.

Hey, thanks for dropping some feedback on the game. This is a really good callout, especially for online franchise leagues where a disconnect in the middle of a game can throw everything off and leave commissioners stuck trying to piece things back together manually.

Being able to restore things like quarter, time remaining, score, possession, and field position would help a lot in situations like that, especially in playoff games and other competitive matchups. There is definitely some value in having a better commissioner tool in the game. I will add the feedback to the list and pass it along to the team.

  • This is especially needed for competitive online franchises and playoff games where disconnects have a much bigger impact on outcomes.
